Thank you for making this video. I watched your video then decided to rent this truck from rent.is. We just finished our 10+ days trip. Here are some info to share for others: 1. Make sure understand when to use 4H and 4L (lot of info in KZbin). The company just told us it is all wheel drive, no, it is 4-wheel drive truck. When cross big river, put in 4L. Always turn off auto engine restart (A button) to avoid engine auto stop. 2. When driving, always turn on lights, do not use auto option,auto will not charge refrigerator/heater battery. 3. Bring electric fire starter for gas stove. They do not provide. 4. Before you fly to Iceland, make sure find a gas station that you can change the empty propane tank (usually close to empty), I would call to confirm. 5. If you will drive f-road, that company dose not allow you drive to south F208, F249 etc. They don’t tell you until pickup time. Use your judgment. 6. Make sure know how to change tire, we got a flat and spend 1.5h at no where change to spare tire. 5. Before drive out of parking lot, test roof, stove and refrigerator and WiFi , we drove 10 miles then came back to change for a good WiFi device. Other than that, it is a super capable car, can handle most of the rivers in Iceland but not Krossa. We saw many park ranger use this truck. It can crawl over crazy iceland ice/raining rock narrow road no problem. With this car, you can always have hot meals. The sleeping quarter is also good. Hope that can help.

Hello Charles - thank you for the extensive feedback on the Toyota Hilux. And sorry to hear about some of the inconveniences. Some things are uncontrolled and others can be improved. I am glad you were able to do a 10day trip in Iceland. Hope you were able to visit some of the amazing places the island has to offer. And as you mentioned at the end. this vehicle is suitable for most parts of the island but during river crossings it can get tricky. Some rivers (depending on the time and situations) can be accessible. But there are rivers that unfortunately are suitable only for mountain vehicles that are much more elevated and bigger wheels. I will be in the process of making an updated video walkthrough in the future about this vehicle so thank you for pointing some of these things out.

It's a part time 4wd, so is rear wheel drive until you put it into 4H.

Hello, Thank you for this very detailed feedback. I take your words on the f208 south, the company refuses to let us go through this route? The fords are relatively small (max 25cm high) as far as I can remember. Indeed I want to rent this vehicle for a road trip with my children, but if it's to deny myself the magnificent F208, too bad! I'll understand for the F249 or 210, but the 208... Thank you for your feedback!

@@raflulu2012 Hello! What exactly did you mean by not letting you drive on the road? Please be as honest and detailed as possible so that I can understand your story. Thanks
@raflulu20124 ай бұрын
I am sorry if I expressed myself incorrectly. I was following the very complete comment of CharlesYangTravel who indicates in point 5 that the company does not allow us to drive on the F208 south. And that surprised me because the fords of the F208 are quite low. I just wanted to get confirmation :)

It's nice to see the effort you put in. Respect..... A small tip: the camera movements are too fast and there is too much action in too short a time.

Thank you so much for your video and information. I have a question about battery duration and if in campsite is better to have a spot with electricity to recharge battery or it is not necessary. Thanks !
@martinsanchez4 ай бұрын
The vehicle has a secondary battery in the camper section that charges while the vehicle is in motion but it is limited and doesn’t produce high voltage. If you want to have full 230v you have campsites where you can plug the vehicle into an electric box and experience the full power with a dedicated outlet plug located inside the camper area

Hello. I enjoyed watching the video. I'm also renting this vehicle and looking forward to the trip. One concern I have is that the sun sets late these days, so it might be bright outside during sleeping hours. Did the vehicle have curtains that can block out the sun?
@martinsanchez6 ай бұрын
Right now during August the sun starts to settle further down so we are getting the “darker”side of the sky. By September things should be quite dark. At the moment the small windows don’t have any curtains but they do have a tint to them. The curtain option is something that is currently in the works as an option.

Does it have hot water in the sink? How about an outside shower head to rinse off with? We are traveling the highlands this summer. My GF wants to be able to rinse off / shower after her daily run? Suggestions? Thanks, and Great Video!
@martinsanchez Жыл бұрын
Just regular running water coming from a water tank you fill and store in the back of the truck. It has a stove you can heat the water in though. No outside shower but many places have restrooms / campsites with this type of facility.

Hey, buddy, big thanks coming your way! Last night, the missus and I gave your video a double feature, and it was like taking a sweet dive into your world. Quick question, though - did I miss something? How's the Toyota handle itself when Mother Nature gets a bit feisty? I've heard rumors about tipping with the roof up. Also, we're super intrigued about the off-road experience. Is it a bumpy ride for the passengers, or does it smooth out the shakes somehow? And, how's the cabin noise? Is it more chill or a bit rowdy in there? Last but not least, does it come equipped with a spare tire? Would be mega grateful for these deets, my man! Keep rocking those adventures!

Hey! thanks for watching and experiencing this camper through my video. Mother Nature: Yes iceland has some of the most intense weather conditions and extreme winds so the higher the vehicle the greater potential of it acting as a sail boat. This particular camper performs really well aerodynamically but you always need to very cautious. I highly recommend you stay up to date daily or hourly with VEDUR.is which is the weather website. It has wind conditions / weather forecasting / temp. but most important it will notify you when there are super high winds expected in regions of the island. Yellow Alerts you don't want to drive in them. Off-road / f-roads / river-crossing: The ride in the front cabin is comfortable for both the driver and passengers. This particular camper / 4x4 is probably one of the most smoother rides out of the fleet. I would NOT recommend having passengers inside the camper section while driving through for safety concerns. Also if you do river crossings make sure to check the water levels before you cross. If you do go into the highlands just be cautious when driving always and use your best judgment. If you have doubts about certain roads and don't feel comfortable driving in them - don't. Cabin: Up in the front the cabin is really well protected and insulated. Extra tire: Located at the bottom back of the vehicle. Hope this helps - Enjoy your trip!

The whole point of this is to be able to go off grid i thought. You would have to buy a separate Thetford unit unless you want to live outside public toilets or pee in a jug during the night.

Off-roading is not legal in Iceland. This is also not a legal camping spot. You should take this video down. Tired of tourists being disrespectful and promoting destructive behaviors.
@martinsanchez2 жыл бұрын
thanks for your comment but I was well on roads open to drive on and respected roads that were closed. Also if a driver is tired of driving for many hours and just needs to rest it is safe to pull over and find a spot and not put other vehicles in danger. fyi I stayed at many many camp sites. Also roads leading to the Highlands are in a way off-roads that need 4x4 transmission. If you are tired of tourists coming to Iceland Keep calm and have an Icecream.

Camping in central Iceland? Totally not illegal, my friend! Let's keep it real and not get caught up in the rumor mill. As for this talk of tourists wreaking havoc, I'm scratching my head. I mean, future nights under the stars, that's destruction? Or the occasional detour off the road for a little off-roading adventure? What's the damage there? A bumped stone or maybe a bug's day getting a tad bumpy? Gotta admit, you've got me shaking my head. I had higher hopes for our Icelandic pals. It's a bummer to feel that inhospitality vibe, but hey, we can all learn and grow. Let's keep those positive vibes rolling!
