Iceland: Come Visit Seydisfjordur, Our Ring Road Trip 2023

Iceland! As they say, the island of fire and ice. Its beautiful landscape and spectacular views are a wonder to behold no matter what time of year you visit. Our trip in May 2023 took us on a long trip around Iceland via what they call the "Ring Road." I even got to take my DJI Air 2 S drone along on the trip an was able to take a lot of drone video and stills that I hope you will like. We split the trip up and stayed in several places that we are hoping to detail out in a series of videos. Our second stop along the Ring Road was in Seydisfjordur.
Seydisfjordur is a town of around 668 people in East Iceland, sitting at the inner corner of a fjord of the same name. Surrounded by snowcapped mountains and waterfalls, the most prominent natural landmarks are Mt. Bjólfur (1085m) to the west and Strandartindur (1010m) to the east.
The settlement of Seydisfjordur began to develop into a trading centre in 1848 when townspeople found their wealth in “the silver of the sea” - herring. The long protective fjord gave the fisherman in Seydisfjordur an advantage over their neighbours, leading it to grow into one of the most prosperous towns in East Iceland. The unique, multi-coloured wooden buildings that make Seydisfjordur so recognisable were built in this period by Norwegian merchants and whalers.
Seydisfjordur also has probably the second most photographed rainbow road outside of the one in downtown Reykjavík. It's the site of a lot of Instagram photos that also includes the Seydisfjordur Church, or Seyðisfjarðarkirkja.
