The funny thing is, this is how some (most) Icelanders are when it comes to elves. Ask any Icelander if he/she believes in elves and the answer will always be "NO! But I don't mess with them either!" As in, an Icelander will never admit to you (or him/herself either) that he/she believes in elves, but we have enough respect (fear) for this tradition to not fuck with it.

The same things exists in Scotland and Ireland. Maybe not to the same extent, but I believe it’s got something to do with the spirits of the ancestors. Places considered to be ‘Fairy mounds’, have long been suspected to be the sites of ancient burial grounds.

yes thats 100% true the norse people believed in elves and had little elf houses and even believed in storm-giants, frost-giants, rock-giants, lava creatures, elves, dwarfs, witches, sorcerers, ghosts, shapeshifters, sea serpents, and dragons. Fun fact: The voice that you hear singing in this scene (1:42) when Lars was saved by the elves was actually the mother of the actual Eurovision entrants for Iceland in 2022, Systur. Scandipop said that and the girls confirmed this portion in their Insta.

This movie was wonderful and funny! The story has so many captivating features, the elves being one of them. And on top of that, it has one of the best songs of the 21st century as the climax! This film put a previously unknown town on the map and increased tourism which helped the town rebuild as the town very rarely has foreign visitors

I am into Norse Mythology, but I know the Arora Borealis was what they considered the rainbow road into Odins halls and the Great Halls. Alot of their myths came from the planetary astronomy and stories passed down over and over. before real letters or writing was made all they had were runes.

Interestingly, the Aurora Borealis didn't actually occur with any great frequency over Europe during the Viking Age -- magnetic North was too far over North America. The Norse saw them in Greenland, and wrote about this; but didn't know what they were. The Bifröst is accordingly not considered to be related to the phenomenon of the Northern Lights. Also, the Runes *were* real letters and *real* writing.

Hey, I come from Germany. 🇩🇪🙂👋 I watch this video, because it reminds me of our broadcaster NDR. 😅 Let's be honest, they do everything to lose the contest. 😏 Because they need to save money. In our country, even the broadcasting tax was increased so that they can get more money. Last year even the German online show "ESC Songcheck" had to be canceled due to lack of money. Therefore, hosting the ESC in Germany would be much too expensive for them. Funnily enough, the new head of the broadcaster NDR Frank Beckmann revealed in an interview, that Germany shouldn't end up on the first place. 😂 And I really think, that Frank Beckmann would actually strangle a contestant if someone won for Germany, like the Icelandic TV boss in this video. 😱😂 But I find it really embarrassing, that my home country always finishes last or second to last. At least Michael Schulte was able to reach the fourth place in 2018. 😍🥰
