It makes sense that Bobby won. Bobby is an omega level mutant cable of creating and coating himself in ice while John is an alpha level mutant (which is still strong) but can only manipulate fire and can’t coat himself with fire like Sunspot or Sunfire.

the MCU will definitely figure out a better fight scene. Bobby could use his ice gliders, make ice walls or weapons, and transform himself into ice the entire time to keep his strength and durability. All John can do is control fire with his mind. He can think of making large ass fire animals bigger than Bobby, or swing his arms around to create a huge fire ball. John is an extremely powerful mutant. If John went against Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) he could easily kill Johnny by staring at him and getting rid of his flames.

He survived the attack on Worthington Labs. Producers have revealed that Pyro was knocked out cold and was dragged off-site by Bobby (Ice-Man) before Jean (The Phoenix) started disintegrating the island. Years later, Pyro was one of the mutants to be killed by the Sentinals in the early years of their attacks. His zippo lighter is seen on a shrine for the mutants who were killed.
