IceRiver KS0 - Set Up, Thermals, Power, Trouble Shooting, I blew it up On SOLO!!!!

A small way to lower the temperature at KS0 about 2-3 degrees! I have looked after opening the Miner times the internal structure and I noticed the following. The motherboard is screwed with the 8 spring screws against the upper part of the housing (heat sink). I noticed that the board has a relatively low contact pressure against the heat sink. I have therefore removed the board and the lower brass spacers filed off about 0.5mm and then ground clean. Cleaned properly afterwards with isopropanyl alcohol, the Asic chips again with new thermal paste and then everything reassembled properly. You have to imagine if the contact pressure is too low, the heat generation of the Asic chips can not be transferred properly to the heat sink, this is now much better and you can feel it clearly in the heat generation of the case! Only as a small suggestion for those who want to open the KS0 also. My temperatures before the modification and after: Temp1: 36 degrees Temp2: 41 degrees Temp1: 32-33 degrees Temp2: 37-38 degrees 50 percent fan speed

I've been running three Icerivers KS0 on a server PSU from HP 800 watts (Titanium) for 4 weeks at only 12 volts! This works without any problems! Iceriver only chose 19 - 20 volts, since at 65 watts only approx. 3.3 amperes run through the cable and the hollow plug. At 12 volts this is about 5 amps. I got extra special hollow plugs that have 10 inner spring contacts, which can be loaded up to a maximum of 10 amps. With 3 Iceriver KS0 I have a total power consumption of 188 watts! And this even with the installed fans, which alone consume about 3 watts. So a single KS0 consumes only about 61.6 watts for me. And since the server PSU is only being used at around 25 percent, it's not even using its highest efficiency! I will be installing 3 more KS0s in the near future, so that the server PSU is utilized at around 50 percent. I think I'm well below 60 watts consumption for an Iceriver KS0.

Except for some flexibility, this is a deathblow to Osprey. It will be interesting to see if the price stays down, but serves as an example. In the GPU world this is the equivalent of buying a 1660 Super for ETH back in the day. Perhaps the end result is $1-2 a day, but how many of us was dropping $1k on a gpu just to get the same results during ETH days.

@rabid mining - from IR The fan at the bottom is blowing to the inside of the machine, and the heatsink above has ventilation holes. The external fan is recommended to use 12038 and 12025 model fans with M3 thread specification. usually there is no need to install external fan, the miner working temperature is too low will also cause hashrate instability. your fan is upside down

kaspa is in its infancy stage, right now it doesnt have a big utility but it is the only blockdag and solves the trilemma all other blockchains face. that being said its also the fastest to date and has room to be even faster and more scalable, once it has its legs under it developers will build on the network and build its eco system, once that happens then we will have utility on top of everything else mentioned. Think of kaspa right now as how solana or eth started out, no utility until the eco system was built on top their main networks'. we need to crawl before we run.

These are for kaspa only. ASIC miners are usually dedicated to a single algorithm and can only mine the coins on it.

hello, I have an iceriver ks0 but I'm having problems, mine worked fine for 20 hours on F2pool and then it keeps changing the pool and address, whenever I put my pool it changes everything after 2/3 minutes. after a day off I went back to configuring the kaspool but after 10 hours or so it changed the pool settings again, How can I solve this problem??? ? thanks

If your mining kaspa to hodl till next year, consider every week swapping the monero you mine on tradeogre to btc then to kaspa, my 5900x is bringing in 266 kaspa a month after i swap but when kaspa hits a dollar i made 266 a month on my one cpu rig... something to consider if your still mining monero, you have a ton more hashrate then i do, curious how much you can pull in a month after swapping, it would be 100% worth it.
