The comment about state machines and how they should explain what each register does in each as a checklist was a great way of thinking about it. I had to figure out on my own how to do a state machine last week and that tidbit would've really helped me then.

Amazingly friendly IDE! Started to learn Verilog with Altera Cyclone IV, before getting my first o-scope. So much suffering :(

I am trying to understand how you did this, and converting to vhdl (while learning), using a random fpga I had ordered a while ago. But I am missing some important information here and there, do you have the entire stream laying around somewhere? I'm not sure how you handle the address for example. Aren't the address decimal coded? not binary? You seem to just fetch it from the 4 top bits from the combined counter. I am strugling to get good documentation on these led matrixes. How the rows are aligned, etc.

Ah, 16 lines yes. So the addr is binary ;P I got it working now :)
