Just beautiful ! It takes a gifted player like yourself to express real feeling through this instrument. Thank-you so much for sharing this. I hope you continue with your organ playing.

Gert, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your playing. You have a lot of talent, and I can see that you enjoy playing the organ in your body language. Keep up the good work, and you will go a very long way. I am an old man now but I can still learn a great deal from you about the organ because my instrument was always the piano.

The Positief 2 is a well-engineered model for larger residences and sounded in a manner appropriate for this work. I reckon that a Positief 3, with an optional remote speaker array for Manual I (which is how I'd deploy a Rugpositief for a tall, otherwise self-contained digital organ), might get reasonable sales for discriminating customers.

My sincere thanks to you, Gert! I love your interpretation of this organ choral piece by Bach, and yes, the registration & phrasing are perfect! Listening to your performance on this organ, I remembered Helmut Walcha's recording ... may I ask you about the registers you used for the cantus firmus? Tomorrow marks the 17th day of a major quake that hit City of Koube in Japan. So all the more your playing is deeply touching to me ... again, thank you for sharing such wonderful Bach!

Guess what, Gert played this piece also in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam and I am pretty positive he will be playing there again. ;)

My teacher's teacher was Hugh Porter and his teacher was Charles Courboin. You have to listen to Courboin on Organlive to understand. Courboin can be heard on "Wanamaker Organ, the lost recordings" out on CD. He plays very very slowly, so that is what Dr. Broman, my teacher, learned in the 1930's when he was at Julliard. Carl Broman also taught Fred Swann in Fred's teen years, by the way.

Your reward is in the joy you bring to others. I will still buy your cds. A money reward helps.

Hi Gert. This was the second piece I ever learned on the organ back in 1958. My teacher made me play it very sloooooow, about half the tempo you are taking. Now I take it at your tempo. I like the way you phrase the melody. I also like the way you slightly ritard the left hand at the end of each of the right hand phrases. Also that was just about same registration that I was taught to use 51 years ago, except that on the melody Dr. Broman had me use a 4' flute and a Sesqualtera II only.

@Gman3782 It's a digital organ. It can change e.g. the overall volume of the instrument.

That's what I figured. Wouldn't it be cool if it did it by adding or subtracting ranks.

Great, the speed is probably exactly as Bach wanted it. Today the piece is payed generally slow as in the time of Bach notation did not entail speed indicators.
