In the anime they didnt show it, but Ichibei´s ability is basically eradicating names etc. When Ichigo first fought Kenpachi and Zangetsu pulled up, Zangetsu told him his name, but in the manga instead of the name we only saw black ink. (In the anime they just muted his voice) Now we know it was Ichibei that stopped Zangetsu from telling him he is Yhwach
