@@quiteliteral3911 Ehm… don’t count on it bud. I prefer Ichiruki, but I’m not fooled enough to think something like changing a pairing ending would happen. Author made his choice of endgame partner and preference, I don’t think the studio would do something as bold as changing established stuff (and since Kubo’s involved too). I’d prefer we get an RPG-like adaptation spin-off game based on the series’ events that allows the players the option to have non-canon alternate ending routes. Games should have the leeway of being able to offer players options, and I think this is more feasible than expecting a studio to not do its job in following the intended story.

Why you think when Rukia passed her powers to him he couldn't use her powers but manifested his soul reaper power onto rukia sword? I’m not one to care much for shipping but you honestly can’t tell me that they didnt spend more time developing Ichigo’s relationship with Rukia than with Inoue. Idk why some manga authors do that, they make the main character almost completely oblivious to the actual love interest whilst developing his or her relationship with a different character. Then when the time comes, everyones surprised cause it makes like very little sense. I think if they put more focus into developing Ichigo and Orihime more it’d make it work alot better. Like the only really good development between them was the hueco mundo arc and the blood war arc. A bit more here and there wouldve worked perfectly imo.

Yeah, I hate it when some authors just throw their shounen protag a shallow love interest and ignore the characters that actually have a well developed relationship with him. The poor woman( usually a healer archetype,) will pine and pine for the protagonist and will constantly think about him. Meanwhile, the protagonist will be completely oblivious and not invest any emotional effort into her at all. Then, inexplicably they will get married and pop out a kid.

@Rodrick Young I don't really know, I have a theory that it's based on some sort of cultural conservatism. A lot of characters that the protag has actual chemistry with don't fit the traditional Japanese housewife ideal. Since the protagonist in most, if not all shounen shows are the moral center of their worlds, writers or editors think it would be nice for them to get with this traditional submissive woman so that they can be an example to their young demographic. Now, I have no problem with women who prefer healing, housework, gentle or are more submissive. Women should be allowed to be whoever they are. The problem is that the women who have these traits are not treated with any respect or care by their authors, which reaks of sexism.

I feel so conflicted about Ichigo being paired with Orihime from a writing standpoint. It’s the safest choice in terms of raising the least amount of questions, but just given the interactions that the characters have, Ichigo and Rukia seem really close to one another beyond “just friends.” But with an Ichigo and Rukia pairing, how would that work? Are they living in the Soul Society or is Rukia crashing at Ichigo’s? Or is it a long distance relationship? How do they have sex? Can they even have kids? I guess the series could’ve ended where Ichigo and Rukia are married and living together in the human world going off on Hollow hunting missions just like in the first season doing freelance work. Maybe they have a half-ghost baby that’ll get his own spin off series, and then it and Boruto can have a crossover special when both series inevitably start falling off into obscurity.

Perhaps it could work out, given the fact that it worked for Isshin and Masaki. It just depends on which one would end up where. It was always assumed Ichigo would become the shinigami, with how much he wanted the powers and abilities and remembering it was hinted at that Ichigo would have to stay in the soul society. His friends and family were given special tickets to see him if this happened, so I'm not sure what the point of that was if nothing would come from it. Also, "the love and destiny Ichigo inherited" seemed like an indicator something would happen for Ichigo and Rukia, given Isshin and Masaki's story closely parallels Ichigo and Rukia's. With the combination of the parallel and Ichigo possibly having to stay in Soul Society, I thought Kubo may have gotten creative with them ending up together. It's a nice thought, though.

Throwing Rukia and carrying Orihime are equally adorable moments to me. They're the different ways they trust and love each other. Any girl would probably not hang out with a guy who tossed her off a hundred foot tall platform or lugs her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, but Rukia and Orihime stick by him anyway. Ichigo saving Rukia is one of my favorite moments in the anime.

Here again after rereading TYBW bc man, Ichigo and Rukia ship has that CHEMISTRY that is on par with Renji and Rukia 😭 Gahhdammn, I fully respect Kubo's decision, and upon various of thinking outside the box as to why Ichigo ended up with Orihime to which I ended up accepting nonetheless, IchiRuki still remains my fave sunken ship. The comfortability they have with each other is just enough to tell the viewers that they had more than platonic feelings but discarded it bc they know they wouldn't end up together. Love lots to Orihime though bc I ship her with Uryu. But Ichigo just looks good and warm and soft whenever he's with Rukia.

On top of that, rukia felt like a character who actually had a personality that wasn’t just being a love interest like orihime. It feels like orihime has no personality except saying “kurosaki-kun” constantly. And she’s annoying asf sometimes. IMO, it started with ichigo and rukia and should’ve ended with them

No, ichigo never liked Rukia. But rukia was really in love with ichigo, in the shinigami arc (the first one) when rukia lives in ichigo's closet, I never actually see ichigo interested in rukia, but on the other side you can see how cute Rukia is with ichigo sometimes. The thing is, ichigo never planned to mate with someone in the first place, because neither ship really works well. The ichiruki makes sense Because yeah, Ichigo's father married his ... hgh ... human mother and the relationship was built up through the series. Why won't it work well? First, I think Rukia knows that she loves Ichigo because of her resemblance to Kaien, Rukia was in love with Kaien and when she met him again in a dream she was much more shy and quite "silly" to show what she felt. Rukia with ichigo was not like that since generally Rukia fought with him and joked, because of the difference between liking and loving, at least it wouldn't feel natural. second, rukia knew about how orihime felt towards ichigo and it would be very strange if rukia had declared to ichigo in the first attempt since rukia is always about supporting and helping everyone she can, it really wouldn't be rukia.

It's sad that we will never see this be actually Canon but I will give you this the manga aruthor wanted them to go together but he didn't have enough time due to his book being to long they are actually some interview's we're he says that he wish he had enough time to let them be together. Another fun fact the way how his parents met is exactly how Ichigo saved rukia from being executed, that's why Ichigo father thought he really was going to marry rukia. I was happy and sad that he didn't write there happy ending.

The girl that the MC spends more time with or has strong chemistry with never ends up with the Male MC. It's just fucked up at this point. People have faith that Oda will change, since according to people he the best anime writer in the world but let's keep it real even if he wants it to happen, Shonen owns his work so he has to do what they say. Every Shonen aways ends the same way. No point in wasting your time watching an anime that will end the same as the others, I just feel sorry for the people that have been watching for 22+ yrs now and counting, Shonen just wrong and dirty

Kubo had an incredible chance with writting of the final arc with Byakuya but fangirls complained and ended up reversing one of the best plot lines Bleach could of produced. Burning a manga cause of a ship is down right childish, last time I check Bleach didn’t have romance classified for it. In the end these are just action shonens and I can’t fathom how people can be so mad about a pairing that had glaring hints that they’d end up with each other in the end.
