I saw something going around in reddit, that ichigo usually never attacks with his left hand, in this chapter he did vs the first ghoul, and switching combat hands usually indicates the usage of dual weilding, so it's really possible that it's his new sealed state.

Kubo has explicitly stated that Ichigo got his Quincy and Hollow powers back when his Zangetsu was restored by Tsukishima and Orihime during the TYBW arc. And in an Outside Klub Kubo question, Kubo said that Ichigo absorbed the white part of his Bankai into himself, it serving as "The sheath" of his Zanpaktou, meaning he can summon the second blade if he wants to.

In the novels, they did say that they kept Ichigo away from Aizen during his re-sealing after Juha's defeat because they were concerned Aizen could effect Ichigo's Hollow, implying that Ichigo got his Hollow powers back, and if the Hollow Powers came back the Quincy ones should too. It goes back to what Rukia said in the Fullbring Arc. Ichigo's powers are a part of his lineage, no-one can just take them away, they're a part of his biology. All anyone can do is drain his batteries. Also, I still find it strange that we watched Ichigo's "Bankai"'s Hollow Armor crack off to reveal his shikai, and yet people still call it his Bankai. IMO It's obvious that Ichigo's dual swords are the sealed state of his Zanpakuto, and he can put his swords together to create the swords he had all throughout the series. While his body is hollowified the swords will resemble that, and grow Hollow/Fullbring-like armor over the blade. The only reason people call the dual swords his shikai in the first place is because they assume Ichigo can't seal his sword still, but in the Royal Palace the Zero Division commented that Ichigo's Reiatsu control had stabilized, so there's no reason Ichigo couldn't seal his sword now. Ichigo likely passed off his Shikai as his Bankai as a way to test Juha. (Remember that a person who had Bankai doesn't need to say anything/can say whatever they want when releasing their shikai) He wanted Juha to think his cards were played so that Juha would expose all of his abilities, and because Ichigo didn't want to risk losing another Bankai in battle so soon, especially knowing how strong Juha was. However, once Juha used the Almighty to witness the events of the fight, he saw he would lose to Ichigo's Shikai and broke it before Ichigo could ever reveal his true Bankai, thus Juha never saw a future in which Ichigo used his real Bankai because it was already broken.

When he uses his bankai it will probably be his original Bankai, and when he goes into his hollow form it will probably grow similar hollow armor and resemble his fullbring bankai sword but with white accents.

@@jeepdino7353 no he wouldn’t take on a hollow form. His asuchi was his hollow. The fullbring form he took when he got his powers back from rukia had fully combined his soul reaper and hollow powers. Because he was no longer separating them. That’s why Dangai never used the mask either, because his inner spirits had fused together. The Espada recognize the hollow inside ichigo and also recognize that his bankai is more of a resurrection and his spirit as that of an arancar because it’s just buffing him physically and not giving him other abilities. He’s hollified in base now.

I found a post similar to your observation about ichigo using both hands.. it was like this During the battle with the hollows from hell, the first hollow is slashed by Ichigo. A slash he makes uncharacteristically with his LEFT HAND. Ichigo either attacks with his right hand or both. He never uses his left(trust me, I've checked) He later on switches to his right hand when he starts clashing with Szayelaporro and cuts the chains of hell. From Starrk vs Shunsui, we know that people who tend to switch their sword hands in battle are most likely dual wielders. Which would mean the Ichigo we're seeing most likely still has his dual wield and not only that, but has trained it to the point of mastery. Hence his slashing with his left hand. So I believe Ichigo's zanpakuto is simply in a new sealed state and Ichigo still has all his TYBW powers like we were told he did.

As I recall there was worries during Ichigos training in the TYBW arc that he would be to powerfull to return to the living world. Whats shown in the new chapter is definitly his weakest, most suppressed form. Going by other captains whos had dual wield shikai his single blade would be his sealed sword, shikai being dual sword and bankai being the unification of his powers. But Im guessing we just have to wait and see.

I see this theory going around a lot on KZbin and Twitter and it honestly makes sense. Since ichigo merged his hollow and Quincy powers together, he lost both when Yhwach stole his Quincy powers only leaving him with shinigami abilities ( fullbring is attached to hollow btw ) his new bankai “broke” again since his new bankai was his hollow and Quincy powers in unison and since it wasn’t there anymore, it switched back to his old blade. Ichigos fullbring bankai broke so he had fo reforge his zanpakuto, meaning he has new blades, also meaning his shikai and bankai would be slightly different or different all together which it was. Since his dual blades is his true shikai, then what’s his base blade? It can’t be his very first zanpakuto since that blade all together is broken, since he lost his Quincy and hollow powers his sword reverted to a state of only being shinigami abilities, but it also took the form of his old shikai but since that old sword is broken, then the blade he has now is his base zanpakuto. It’s stated in CFYOW that he got his Quincy and hollow powers back ( fullbring attached to hollow ) and 12 years has passed since then, meaning his powers are realigned again and are one again. So his knife blade is his base blade and he now has to awaken his zanpakuto like every other shinigami. his shikai is still just true shikai ( dual blades ) and his bankai is still his true bankai seen in the TYBW against Yhwach. This is just the theory i see around. It’s implied that ichigo got his powers back in CFYOW, it’s not flat out stated though, just implied. we don’t know what’s up with his blade tbh. But I agree with this theory and it makes sense tbh. But we will know when kubo tells us Edit 5 months later : Kubo has finally has given us an answer to what happened to ichigos sword. You're wrong in one point. Yhwach only took the reiatsu from Ichigo. He didn't steal his souls otherwise he would be left empty being unable to even see spirits. His Hollow is his true Zanpakuto. It/ He can't be separated from his shinigami powers .

Canon Ichigo surpassed Full Hollow/Vasto Lorde Ichigo since literally the post Ulquiorra fight. When Ichigo uses his new Striped Hollow Mask, it drew on the power of his inner hollow, and right when Ichigo starts his Dangai training, we see that his Inner Hollow/White is still in Vasto Form. And the striped mask is the same pattern as Vasto Ichigo. Now whether the canon Ichigo scales to hell verse Ichigo in the FKT arc, we can't say for sure. But it's possible. Memories of Nobody concepts got imported from the movie into the canon manga and novels, so...yea

It could just be that at this point of time his Hollow and Quincy powers are just permanently merged together. Maybe he’s merged with his blade now. It’s been 10+ years. It took Ichigo 2000 hours/3 months to obtain final getsuga tenshou and merge with his blade to become a transcendent. I think we just have to wait and see what he has in store. One thing for sure though, Kazui is going to be even stronger than him.

One theory that would really tie into Zangetsu's symbolism and Ichigo's insane power growth would be his Zanpakuto cycling through different stages like the phases of the Moon. Like Ichigo's former Bankai becoming his new Shikai, like going from half-moon to full-moon. Rest assured his new Bankai is going to be absolutely nuts.

I certainly think breaking the chains is probably a powerful feat on its own seeing how we don’t see any other character being able to break them in the chapter. Even renji who is clearly above captain level at this point did not even attempt to break them, obviously he is a bit distracted with protecting his child but I think if he was able to break them he probably would’ve been able to do so while escaping the area with ichika. The fact is no one but Ichigo was able to break the chains in the chapter. That being said I do not believe the scale would be one to one in the hellverse movie.

something else to note the cover spread has ichigo's normal shikai but in the chapter ichigo when he is going in for the swing against the hollow thing it looks like the fullbringer one so what the deal edit: the difference is one has the curve and the normal shikai is just a big kitchen knife edit: 5:54 here he is also using a different hand and the shikai here has the sort of string or rope idk tied around it while in 3:26 no string and a different hand

Well we don't know exactly what may be his true bankai but. There a case where there a zanpaktou in it's bankai form all time which is azashiro so it may be ichigo dual blades is still there but he can as usual stay in bankai mode all time since ichigo for long time stayed in his bankai in his battles. For his bankai blade to be similar to his old shikai? Well if we though about it it not usual all ichigo abilities have relation with the moon so this moon a cycle for ichigo which mean the blade he used in start well be also his final blade and yes i never noticed it before but ichigo never used his left hand to use his sword until he start to use dual blades and since he using his left hand mean he may still have his dual blades shikai since he acted on instinct which is something need long time of practice.

Vasto Lorde Ichigo that cut Kokuto's chains was not even close to full power though. He was at the same level as when he fought Ulquiorra (so at less than a quarter of reiatsu). Remember movies cannot use what's outside the cannon material. But good theories here nonetheless. I hope another chapter comes. And the poetry. I missed Kubo's poetry

The way Yhwach or any quincy use any ability is a form of reishi manipulation, whether it be a schrift or a universal quincy technique, it's a form of reishi manipulation. When Yhwach uses Zankt Altar, it is the conversion of power to controllable reishi which he steals. If he loses control over that reishi, it will return to the user in it's original form. That's what happened when the bankais were hollowfied. The corrupted reishi could no longer be sustained by reishi manipulation powers of the quincy and it returned to the soulreapers. That's why Aizen regained his form after Yhwach's death and Ichigo *undoubtedly* regained what Yhwach stole from him

We also have to remember the other times usage of hands were important when captains like Shunsui and Kenpachi battled. When Shunsui fought Stark they talked and focused on the usage of his left hand. With Kenpachi its a but different, but when he fought Nnoitora he used 2 hands to double his striking power. So perhaps this is indeed true, and Ichigo has his dual swords still. I hope so!

You missed a few things tho.. *1. Szayel didn't claim to be the warden of hell . He was saying there is a warden of hell that is all seeing... *2. Ichigo didn't lose his powers. Yes yhwach took them and broke his zangetsu but tsukishima restored it back to exactly what it was. The book of the end splits the past (tsukishima explained that time flows from past to present , he made a past when zangetsu was never broken , as in ichi never lost his ability so the present changed immediately and ichigo's zangetsu was restored) . He gained all his abilities again...

We will get the chance to see a lot of old characters who didn’t get too much spotlight in the thousand year blood war arc like unohana and especially ukitake. I definitely think the threat will be so big that they might request Aizen’s help again. Also recently thought if so many of these captains go to hell, there is also a chance kubo could explore those captains from the original gotei 13

His quincy powers formed the scabard or shealth which is the white part of his bankai that broke apart. Kubo stated that when it broke it was reabsorbed into his body. He also said he is able to use 2 swords still but choses to use his powers combined aka 1 sword as in hell arc. So he still has all powers intact: The correct shape for a Zanpakutō is one with a sheath, and the only ones without [one] are Sayafushi and Zangetsu. The two-sword state in which Zangetsu was reforged [corrects the original], and Zangetsu's true form appears when Ichigo's Bankai breaks his sheath." Kubo goes on to say the sheath that Yhwach broke was absorbed into his other Zangetsu blade, giving him the most pure form of his Zanpakuto. The Bleach creator then said Ichigo can separate the swords at will if he wants to use two swords, but he can use them combined as well. It all comes down to whatever Ichigo wants.

I think the only thing mentioned in the light novels were that the quincy that got their powers absorbed by Yhwach got their powers back. Logically speaking this should also mean Ichigo's powers that were absorbed should have also returned to him. But yes as you said we do not have a direct statement in the novel saying that Ichigo's powers returned to him.

I don't think so, unlike the other sternritters, Yhwach didn't use the auswahlen to take Ichigo's powers. He absorbed them directly from Ichigo's body and we even see his blut cover Ichigo's skin which more than enough to prove that the technique Yhwach used is very different from the Auswahlen. Also, the sternritters that got hit by the Auswahlen just got a little potion of their powers back and they can't use Volstandig at all.

I think Kubo should go with Mad House Studios/ Funimation to bring the character designs and story more than depending on studio perriot they shows off too much so as Viz Media/Shonen Jump. I remember reading the manga with the thousand year war arc it was promised that all the characters will be featuring more when it comes to Zanpaktuos. Some of the stories it kind of missing or skipped to the final but it may look like that... I read good flow manga stories and I know something is missing because of the manga studio hustling Kubo as far I understand plus the anime was kind of "rushed" to wrap things up. Bleach could have continued along with Naruto-Boruto continuation as well as One Piece who have the most LONGEST Episodes like some "Bold and Beautiful " soap opera I feel because of the tight competition between 3 of them, so some "pencil pusher" want room and booted Kubo out in a bitter sweet manner.

so heres the thing.....the hell verse movie is not canon so a lot of the things we think we know may not even apply here. I.E maybe the other sr's can cut the hell chains etc etc. Everything is literally up in the air especially since kubo himself said he did not like the Hell verse movie. @@BleachSensei dudes just a stepping stone. Sure he attacked ichigo, but that was blocked. Ichigo didnt hit him. He just backed up and started talking again, and then got stabbed by ukitake. I dont really see why he'd be bothered by getting stabbed back into hell. He's already living there. Syzayell is just a herald, not an actual boss. But i guess we'll see what the other characters from hell can do.

in chapter 142 byakuya says to renji "Because its so big it takes an addintional 10 years of training after achieving bankai to master its movements. so smaller bankai's like ichigo's, kenpachi's, kensei's, etc... might take less time to master.
