This arc in general left so many questions unanswered, it's a good arc but you can tell it was rushed due to shueishas limit and the fact kubo was sick. Zangetsu is not Yhwach and Yhwach is not Zangetsu. Their existence is completely unrelated to each other. The swordsmith, Oetsu Nimaiya, even explains this as he reforges Ichigo’s Zanpakuto. He stated it clearly that the old man Zangetsu we know is actually not the manifestation of Zangetsu itself, but is rather just pretending to be one. Old zangetsu is a quincy manifestation

I don't get it though. Yammamoto was a mere shinigami. Ywach should have easily regenerated from being cut in half since absorbing the soul king. Even pernida just a piece of the soul king had like infinite regeneration. So Ywachs regen factor is literally less than the hand of the soul king or aizen.

"there is only one sword capable of defeating me" in the middle of all the swords and it's exactly the one that represent juha power itself. I understand a lot had to go right, the bigger contributor is hashwalt who wanted to defeat yuha and did it by convincing him that a certain vision of the future was a dream. then there is aizen who messed with the almight, just enough to allow uryu to land a shot and at last when all the zangetsu forms break, the true sword, the purest quincy power is the one who defeated him.

@mortvald Aizens shikai was already deactivated by the time Uryu arrived. He had the least contribution to defeating Yhwach BY FAR. Haschwalth is more double sided. There's no proof that he wanted to take down Yhwach when he showed the vision. He was likely trying to warn Yhwach but Yhwach misinterpreted due to ignorance or rather PLOT. There is the arguement that he intentionally showed him the vision as well tho. But I don't think so. Because it doesn't align with his actions regarding Uryu or anything else by that point in the story so I'm inclined to believe he was trying to warn Yhwach. As for the training with OMZ, you could say it's foreshadowing and it does fit nicely except I am pretty sure Kubo did not foreshadow that far ahead. He could have though for sure. And Ichigos sword probably was the only thing strong enough to kill Yhwach since it inherited Yhwachs own power so it checks out. Ultimately though it was all teamwork. That's the only way to beat Yhwach. By jumping him. And they did that. Ichigo and Ishida primarily. I believe Ishida is the biggest player in defeating Yhwach and I'm pretty sure Kubo will make that obvious in the anime. He messed up a lot with Ishidas role in the manga despite setting up the contrasts between him and Yhwach

For all this to make sense, it is necessary to highlight some points: Tsukishima's ability, Book of The End, can rewrite the past When the Bankai is broken, it CANNOT be restored, not even by Orihime Haschwalth predicted the future and showed it to the king Almithgy can only see the future and rewrite it That said, when the King breaks Ichigo's Bankai, Orihime was unable to restore it, not because the King wrote the future, but because Bankai cannot be restored. And that's where Tsukishima comes in. Tsukishima rewrites the past of Ichigo's Zanpakutou to a time when it was never broken, and I emphasize "never", because that means that Ichigo's Zanpakutou was restored to before Haschwalth broke it, that is, before the new Zangetsu were forged! This explains why Orihime was able to repair Ichigo's Zanpakutō, and why the appearance of the Zanpakutō remains the same, because the Zanpakutō we see after Tsukishima rewrites the past is Ichigo's old Shikai, from the Substitute Soul Reaper saga. We see that Ichigo's Bankai has the same shape as his old Shikai, and this is where the King is tricked. The King tries to break Ichigo's sword again, thinking it is Ichigo's Bankai, but he fails to rewrite the future, because the sword he is trying to break, according to the Book of The End, was never forged by Nimaya, he is trying to break a Bankai that does not exist! That is why the only thing that is crushed when the King tries to break Ichigo's Zanpakutō is the sheath, because it is the only thing left that Orihime was able to restore from his Bankai. So basically the Zangetsu we see at the end is the Shikai with the Bankai sheath. This fits perfectly according to Haschwalth's prediction, where the King has a dream where he is defeated by Ichigo's old Zangetsu, the Shikai. The King's problem was a "misinterpretation", where he always thought that this dream referred to Ichigo's new Bankai, (since it has the same appearance as the old Shikai) when in fact it referred to the Shikai itself that his vision of the future showed. In other words, the King's powers never failed. In the end, without Tsukishima, this plot would not be possible, because the King would not mistake Ichigo's Zangetsu. If there is any flaw in this, feel free to comment, it will be good to debate.

Read it again, defeating the King's schrift was never a matter of strength, or do you really think the King couldn't use his schrift to break Zangetsu again? If Ichigo could simply cut the King in half, he would have done it sooner. Ishida and the King himself made it obvious that the arrow didn't last long enough to stop the King's schrift, and even if it did, do you really think he would just be cut in half so easily? The King himself tried to break Zangetsu again as if his powers had already returned, and I say again, even if they hadn't, the King was never weak enough to die in a single blow. The only way to trick him was to make his own vision of the future a trap. Kubo has already stated that he can use his old or new shikai whenever he wants, nothing prevents the king from taking the bait in my 'speculation'. As I said, what I said makes sense within the rules established in the anime, that Bankais cannot be restored, and in the King's dream, he died SPECIFICALLY to the OLD Zangetsu, in its Shikai form. The King's dreams are quite accurate because they are visions of the future and not riddles. And still, nothing prevented him from reforging Zangetsu after the war if he wanted to. Even so, in the new arc he uses it exactly the way it was after he defeated the king.

Just a random thought, I think the reason he won here was because the past that was re-written was not Ichigo's sword being broken by Yhwach, but when it was broken by Haschwalt, which would also explain why he couldn't just break it again instantly like he did this time. He tried to break something that didn't technically exist in this timeline, and would also explain why it degrades into the sword that shouldn't exist, his original sword. Thanks for the video

The real reason is much more simple: Aizen was disguised as Ichigo. Yhwach cracked Aizen's sword while trying to break Ichigo's. But that has nothing to do with why the white of Ichigo's Bankai shattered in the final attack. It's because Yhwach had absorbed Ichigo's Hollow and Quincy powers, so the white of his Bankai lacked "substance". Ichigo cut him with a purely Shinigami Zanpakuto.

that's not his true bankai, that's his sealed form, in fact it's called even in games "True Zangetsu" not True Bankai or True Shikai. Kubo confirmed that Ichigo still has both swords in Shikai and that his Bankai is the merged form. In Hell Arc Ichigo has exactly that same cleaver with bandages as soon as he turns into his shinigami form. So this is Zangetsu sealed form, the dual wield is the shikai and the merged version is the bankai.

I mean it could work, the thing about the hogyoku is regardless of what it's made of it has constant adaptation and it increases itself no matter what, it's an ever growing power source that also explains why aizen alone even when suppressed got stronger in muken, if the hypothetical is taken then that would mean it was outgrowing and out phasing the already large amount that Yhwach had which is still possible considering it did adapt to Dangai ichigo in minutes if urahara wasn't there he would've ascended to greater heights and that's also remembering that the state he was in before being hit by mugetsu is on par with Fullbringer Bankai ichigo (who is the same ichigo who fought yhwach during the first invasion)

​@RAAAHUM the best explanation is that Ishida is somewhat evasive of Yhwachs power. Because narratively Ishida is the "Antithesis" to Yhwach and this was subtly foreshadowed throughout the arc. Beginning with Ishida survivng the auswählen and then ofc the name of his schrift. The hogyoku is not narratively relevant to Yhwach and is vastly inferior to him by the end of the series because he had already absorbed every remaining part of the soul king. Ishida and Ichigo are like children of prophecy destined to take down Yhwach. And it seems like Kubo is going to delve into that much deeper when it comes to Ishida in cours 3 and 4.

Ain’t true zangetsu is his sikhai form not his bankai , I think when teach tried to destroy ichigo true bankai in future ichigo changes his zangetsu form to basic old form as ywach can’t thought of zangetsu old form and tried to break his true bankai in this timeline but it shattered and ichigo turn it up to old form which was plot by ichigo as true zangetsu blade can kill him. So old zangetsu is not ichigo true bankai .

@@olo703 No when Orihime restored it Ichigo had again all his powers, Kubo confirmed that Ichigo still has all his powers, including Quincies and Hollow, and that he can still use both swords as dual wield when he activates the shikai. This is not his true bankai, this is the sealed Zangetsu form (we never saw Ichigo sealed sword if you think about it). In Hell chapter when Ichigo joins shinigami for the ritual of the fallen ones he has precisely that swords with bandages that look like his old Shikai, this sword. Which means that Ichigo sealed form Zanpakuto is the cleaver, in shikai he split the sword in two and then the merged version is the bankai.
