Shikai and Bankai are two separate identities. Zaraki, Azashiro and Shunsui are all bankai manifestation. Like how Ichigo have White and Yhwach as shikai and the combination of them as bankai.

Love zanpakutos rebellion, one of the best filler arcs! My only complain about it is that we didn't get to see all all the spirits. Obviously it was made before the arrancar arc was finished, they couldn't predict the reintegration of the vizards, also there was no sense in having Aizen's group there. Perhaps the inclusion of Urahara would have been nice, but even without him, I think they really forgot of Isane and Iba zanpakutos. Their spirits should also have been liberated by Muramasa, and it would have been a good opportunity to finally reveal their powers (ironically, as happened to Sasakibe, since the lightning attacks of Gonryomaru firstly appeared there, long before the final arc). Sadly not, and we still don't know anything about them.

@@PowerLord83 it's not. Filler arcs and movies have many issues about time-line placement and other things (off course cause they did most of them way before Aizen's arc was over). In this sense, Memories of Nobody and Reigais arc are the ones with less problem, still not officially canon. That's said, Kubo took many inspirations from them. I will say all zanpakuto spirits forms are canon, since you will a couple of them in TBYW arc. In the novel CFYOW he set the screams valleys (first movie) as locations, also it was mentioned Muramasa as the Kuchiki's clan sacred sword (but not confirmed is the same of the filler arc).

well it makes sense. zangetsu literally said it's when they merge together. and ichigo's true bankai merges his swords together. we should've seen it coming. I just personally don't like the design of it. instead of trying 50/50, I would've preferred 100/100. give him both powers, but have it symmetric. i've never been a fan of designs that are lopsided. it look awkward to me.
