This entire arc he is fighting to suppress his inner hollow, which takes a lot out of him. Also, the combat pass was meant to track and suppress his spirit energy, which is something he picked up after the Soul Scotty from Ukitake

So this Ichigo is less than 1/5th as strong as the one that fought Byakuya because he's also getting mental nerfs at the same time.

@@maalikserebryakov it was clear. His powers are shown from his battle with Yammi to be extremely unstable. His mental state was also on the brink of collapse. Even after a prep talk from Rukia, she still ends up taking point and fighting D-Roy (who Shawlong says was so weak he didn't think should be allowed to be a fraccione) because, as she says, Ichigo could get himself killed fighting in that state. The entire arc up to that point built up just how bad Ichigo's condition was, just how crippled he was by White trying to devour him and his fear of being devoured. He is nothing like the young hero invaded the Soul Society and faced down Byakuya's Bankai and (temporary) held his own. Even pressuring Byakuya. It's not until after training with the Vizards and subduing White, finding his killer instinct again, that he is back to his old self.

Arrancar is a type of evolution for hollows. When they break their masks and take an humanoid form, sealing their powers in their swords they become Arrancars, it does not matter if they were Gillian, adjuchas or vasto lordes before. And Espada is the rank. The 10 most powerful hollows take the rank as Espadas, but they don't necessarily need to be Arrancars. The 9 espada is a Gillian for example.
