Rachel... so nice to see you with Alan... Yes, I do have his big wonderful book... I only have 6 Vintage Ichimatsu dolls, but I really love them so much! I was also able to buy, directly from Japan, one of the dolls attributed to the maker Ota Takuhisa who made some of the Friendship dolls.

Hi, Rachel! Hi, Alen! I have an ichimatsu doll that is a bit of a mystery. I am totally blind so I’m not sure how helpful my description will be, but I will try my best. He is an infant. I can tell by the bend in his legs that is typical of baby dolls. He has a human or synthetic hair wig that is cut exactly the same all the way around the head. I love his hair ! It is so lush and thick and I could run my fingers through it all day if I wasn’t worried about damaging it. Lol! He has inset glass eyes. He has a round inquisitive looking face with a slightly open mouth and A philtrum in the top lip. He has these super defined large ears. And because his hair is cut above them, they look even larger. LOL! He is 17 inches long when in the lying down position. His arms, legs, and head are movable. His legs and arms can go back-and-forth, and his head can turn from side to side. He is made of composition I believe and I think he is hollow on the inside. He isn’t very heavy. His hands aren’t very defined, but there are suggestions of individual fingers, and a completely separate thumb. He almost looks like he is wearing permanent boxing gloves or some thing. His toes are the same except there is no separation in between the toes. He is in some sort of kimono with an Obi that is tied in the back. The front part of the OB is very wide with some sort of cardboard insert to make it stiff. Behind it to my surprise, I discovered a mute crier. I don’t think the kimono can be removed because of the way that OB is structured. Also, I believe the inner kimono is sewn or glued onto him and isn’t going anywhere. I can’t give you colors or embroidery or anything of that sort. I did and Unboxing video of him on my channel. Thanks so much for making these very informative videos about these very amazing and special dolls. I am honored to have this young man in my home even if he isn’t the greatest quality. He still has this… I don’t know. This is going to sound very strange. He still has this presents about him. I guess it’s because of how old he is and how many families and hands and lives he passed through. Anyways, I am going to hush. I have only had him for three days and I already feel this close to him. Is that strange?
