We visited Ichiran Ramen on New Year's day. There was a long wait, but well worth it. I ordered the set with the egg and also extra toppings for two bowls of noodles. It was one of the best ramen experiences that I have ever had. It was packed with rich porky goodness. I left there food drunk..

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO ISN'T AFRAID TO ORDER BIG. I know it's personal preference but it's a real letdown when people record themselves at Ichiran and barely order anything either because of a small appetite or because they are afraid of being judged for how much they get. Me, I don't care because I spent good money to go to Japan and I'm going to get the most out of my meals and visit. Other people's opinions begone! You and Mikey Chen are the only ones I know that orders right! Thanks!!

Ordering from a vending machine in Japan is very common, I don't know why everyone in the west is all freaked out about it, it's a lot easier and better for the business. You have better order accuracy and zero worries about money.

Food drunk is right! I've been to Ichiran in Tokyo and NYC and it's amazing! NYC restaurant has the marinated pork as a side. That was super worth it. All stores (I believe) also have homemade black vinegar. Adding a touch of that at the end of your bowl to change up the taste is so great! It's probably a good thing I live an airplane ride away, or my money would be gone. I'm lucky that my local ramen shop is so good that I can usually get a great bowl to help push away the thoughts of jumping on a plane! Great video! :)

Wow, I love how customizable that is! Oh my WORD! I really want to try that now! It looked so delicious! I also waited in a super long line in Jeonju at a famous Bibimbap spot. This elderly man gave my daughter money for food. Super sweet guy and that place was good, but sadly not the best. Now I want to go eat ramen since I can't have that.

This video's title is basically the same as saying: "McDonalds - The perfect Hamburger in America - A Hamburger Feast." Ichiran is basically fast food. It's simple, it tastes average and is aimed to be palatable to a large number of customers who need a quick, cheap bowl, hence the fact that there are so many of them . The only people queuing up at that particular branch are tourists that got duped by some hyped up click-bait somewhere. There are two other Ichirans less than a 10 minute walk away from this one with exactly the same same taste and there are no queues outside them. There is usually at least 1 Ichiran a short distance from every mid size train station in every semi-urban area of Japan. They all taste the same, They all have no queues. It's not that Ichiran is bad, just like McDonald's isn't bad, but it's not perfect, not a feast and for someone visiting Japan with a limited amount of time, it's a wasted meal. Incidentally if you don't want to stand in the trapped-tourist queue, there is a Sapporo-style miso ramen place which is a good deal better than Ichiran, just across the road. They even have a bowl with katsu (crumbed and fried pork cutlet) as the main topping.

Hence the suggestion that you go across the road and eat proper good ramen instead of standing in the queue for a McMeal.

I agree that there is better ramen. But that was my first time visiting Japan and Tokyo. I just made the video to share the experience. Any ramen in Japan is better than the instant ramen in Korea that I'm used to. I guess I didn't know the levels of excellent ramen in Japan. Ichiran was still really good! I'll come back to explore more some day in the future.

Disagree, it's okay but by far not as good as some youtuber act like. You find far better ramen in Tokyo. Don't want to act like a conspiracy theorist, but sometimes i ask myself if Ichiran might pay youtubers for reviews like this.
