Excellent video - I commend you on your decision making process for the safety of you and your passenger. Avoid the risk of pushing outside your comfort levels into borderline conditions.

That was absolutely the right call, no question about it. You’re flying a low power non FIKI piston airplane in icing temperatures and in visible moisture. Many many aircraft have come to an unfortunate end in these circumstances. Always take the safe road, and obey what your training taught you. It’s an automatic decision in this case. You never want to be on the other side of the curve, finding yourself in a rapidly developing overwhelming situation. Good job here !

Absolutely! My thinking exactly. I have no interest at all in messing with the potential for icing.

You made the right decision, and you stuck to it, great ADM and great video. 👍

Thanks! It really is not easy to make that decision, but having "pre-made" the decision before even taking off definitely helped.

Good call. My wife and i spent an unexpected 3 days in Pittsburgh last May on our way down to Ocean Springs when we started picking up icing at 3000 feet. Always best to be safe and embrace the adventure - sometimes a deviation from the plan makes for a great experience. Thanks for making the effort to put out these videos.

Thanks Tim, I appreciate you watching. And yeah you’re absolutely right. Much better to have some unexpected adventures than do something stupid.

Thanks for sharing your flights. I think you got your IFR about the same time I did. I also do some cross border flying and understand the pressures that come with dealing with customs. Awesome ADM on this flight.

Thanks, Duane. Where do you fly out of? I got my IR cert in December 2022. Haven't used it a ton since then!

I got my IR cert in Feb 2023. I am in my mid 40’s and fly a lot with my wife and two girls. Most flight from Iowa to Manitoba but a few to western Canada. Never eastern yet but maybe someday. Plus a lot of flight all around the USA. I currently fly a Cirrus. I enjoy watching your travels with your family. That’s what life is all about.

Curious if KERI charged you landing fees. When I lived in Buffalo, I would visit the avionics shop at Erie and never was charged. Has this changed? Thinking about stopping there on my next trip north.
@WingsOverTO16 күн бұрын
Nope, no landing fee. It’s a nice little airport.
@CanardBoulevard16 күн бұрын
KERI will send you a $25 landing fee bill in the mail, usually a month or two after you visit there.
@Marauder92V16 күн бұрын
@@CanardBoulevard Thanks for confirming. I heard mention that they were charging landing fees but didn’t know anyone who landed there recently.
@WingsOverTO16 күн бұрын
@ oh really? It’s been over 6 months now and nothing yet.
@Marauder92V16 күн бұрын
@@WingsOverTO I’ll bet it’s because you have Canadian registry. I do know Nav Canada will bill US registered planes in their airspace but maybe the same isn’t true for airport landing fees for foreign registered planes in the USA.
