This is a great idea to have test plates for each type of metal - I would like to suggest etching in the timings into the plate as well to remember what the times were. Thank you .

This is really good and clear. I'm about to jump into copper sulphate etching on zinc, and am in need of a good method of making a smooth aquatint.

Thanks very much I'm glad you appreciate the demonstrations. The icing sugar aquatint isn't the easiest of aquatints to master but once you have mastered it you have a safe and beautifully smooth tone.

Hi Andrew, very informative videos, thank you. How long will the icing sugar aquatints hold up to printing, if they are more delicate than normal aquatints?

Thank you Andrew. What do you cover the back of your plate with? It looks white!

Did you use masking tape to cover the part the hand so that the ferric chloride wouldn't etch deeper? Or did you add hard ground to protect it from further etching?

Wonderful video thank you for sharing with us. Am new to this aquatint process so forgive me if my question seems obtuse: Would the image/ etched line be visible under this BIG in order to proceed with stopping out etc? Any feedback would be hugely appreciated!
@bigetchingground3 жыл бұрын
you would usually draw and etch your line work first. The aquatint comes next and the line work can easily seen under the ground. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
