Justin!! You're a total legend for bringing these three together, I could watch a whole series of this! I feel so privileged to be a spectator for this conversation, it's like being a fly on the wall at the 1911 Solvay Conference, watching the new paradigm being built in front of my eyes. I think these discussions will be only truly appreciated generations from now, but know you're doing humanity a service by coordinating this and sharing it for free 🙏🔥✨

humans are unique in that they have a cognitive lightcone that's larger than their lifespan. thank you guys for some positive, creative, collaborative and imaginative talk about the progress of humanity.

i appreciate the keeping in mind that collective experience relies on projecting existing confabulations, either on the personal or societal level. if your priors or environments are different enough, you may diverge to the point you begin to incorrectly assume the experience of the other person. the socially enacted norm can become a hellish thing for people who's personal/group realities aren't supported by the larger group's mean expectations. i suppose as long as we keep that cognitive cone of compassion around the knowledge that divergent minds aren't wrong, just different. intellectually bridging the double empathy gap at any scale of divergence. you guys are amazing.

excellent talk. I was struck at Michael Levin's comment about (to paraphrase) the 'squeezing down and then re-expanding and re-formation as a process that life uses as a pattern, generally. I once answered Johannes A. Niederhauser when he asked his KZbin followers what they thought best describes 'technology' ; my answer to him was that technology is a compression of human action (including language). If I was correct to call it this, then I query that 'technology' really is just a term that we use to describe a sub-pattern of some more fundamental aspect of how life functions or operates? Does it suggest that technology isn't a human-born branch of scientific endeavour and application, but that it is perhaps on a spectrum or continuum, perhaps respective to the system that applies that pattern of 'use' and 're-use' (exaptation).

This conversation is like deja vu. I experienced these syncretic ideas the very first time I watched Dr. Vervaekes work. Fellow autodidact here. Would love to chat about this Justin

Excellent. At 20 min John is talking of epistemic levels and continuum of ontology which helped me see this measuring tool needing to be on a higher level than what is measured, not telescope material as higher but mind revealing information thru tools. Which makes me think that psychology only works because Gregg's model but also the ability to have RR at increased levels of complexity provides that higher level. Where as a newborn the first relatio religio from laying on one's side and being the balanced connection between two massive forces of sun and gravity, the balanced actions of allowing and asserting 2 with exponent 1 as interaction set. Moving into 2^2 as baby is held upright, the languages of family and trade thru object identification associated with needs and desires, added to the sacred language. An adult 2^3 interaction set possibilities seen in the wave of self (from 2^2) embracing wave of human and wave of non-human, objectifying briefly as attention span seconds, proportioned in a few ways, not repetitive in a way that shortens attention span, and with respect to resources in the world, as relevance realization. That wrt to resources goes wrong when the only option is the human world, if it drops a person back to 2^2, moving back to 2^3 when the energy is returned to the non-human world thru care by the individual. Might even ascend to 2^5 where the three guests and others build a dodecahedron world justice system managed by AGI using crypto and human representatives. Justice for the non-human or why justice at all? Instead of building individual human like robots with Planerium artificial GI tracts and titanium exoskeletons - okay, build a few maybe - make the justice system a GI tract, thereby ascending the measuring tool. On with the show!

around 42 min Gregg and Michael talking about the thought as a thinker, and instead of just cognitively mapping in a new body, having an agenda of its own. Going back to the interaction possibility sets it seems that there are two boundaries that are the same balanced allowing and asserting actions, one as the baby lying on their side as the balance between gravity and sun 2^1 and as the universe 2^11 or whatever it is, and this is the agenda of its own perhaps. To create the boundaries also that can be mapped within? Edge space allowing a withdrawal from objects for recognition of other objects in symbiosis as the higher object, like grass, herd and pack. With humans as variation on the same mammal object "guild" and able to expand (and contract) in the mammal object, and the withdrawal from that object as the knowledge pool from eating the grass/entering that symbiosis. Extending boundary as symbiosis breaking.

Dammit Levin. It's all of the above 😔 23:30. It's true...categories are only for explaining to someone else. It's not necessarily how I would need to look at myself. 1:01:57 I thought it was already considered an essential component of science. Have you considered what is under the iceberg of meta consciousness? It certainly comes in handy where the stuff of digital technology is concerned.

Life brings life, it is non linear. The noise of life as opposed to silence (our current obsession and flattening of life for the dark domestic machine) Free and will, one word contrasts with the other, willing has ‘free’? Forgiveness is free ing? Maybe the conversation realizes the ‘sun’ god relationship where *annealing is required of the dark mind and its pervasive divisions. The Covid option, vit D, ocean air (oxygen).
