ICJ ruling will have ramifications across the board: Marwan Bishara

Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, has has said that the ICJ is not judging whether the occupied Palestinian territories are occupied or not in this case.
They are occupied and there is no dispute about it, according to the UN Security Council resolutions on the issue, he said.
“Israel can make the [opposite] claim if it wants and it does with huge lies for the last 50 years,” he said.
What the court is deliberating on is whether Israel has every intention to prolong this occupation as long as possible to make it a de facto annexation, Bishara also said.
“Everything about this occupation looks permanent,” he said, adding that spreading of Jewish settlements demonstrates it.
The analyst said the ramifications of an ICJ ruling on the legality of the Israeli occupation would create ramifications “across the board.”
Bishara, however, added that some countries would be able to withstand it better than others.
He said that the US would throw away such a verdict as “meritless” and “counterproductive” as it did with the judgment on South Africa’s “genocide” case.

I was informed of the situation in Palestine in 2003. And I've been compared it to the Nazis of WW2. And I always think ....... how could the US went to war and lost so many lives in a war to defeat such evil, then turnaround and support the same evil? I find it alarming that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank are completely ignored by Western governments. These are ordinary Israeli people, armed by the Israeli government who are scot free, meaning, they can chose any person, any house, any plot of land, livestock and agricultural produce by force of personal armament. Many Palestinian farmers have lost their entire families, their livestock, their land and their houses. Another alarming reality is that under Netanyahu, American, German and other nationalities have been invited to share these illegal confiscation of the prosperous lands of Palestinian farmers. Imagine, some outlawed former drug addict shows up in your homestead in Alabama and threaten to shoot you if you do not abandon your home and leave immediately. What would you call this? Justice?
