They really are. Like I’ve said in the video, all the songs that I like that they’ve released as singles, I’ve loved. But all their other tracks on their albums, I didn’t care for. 🤷‍♂️

Yes. It's the devil. The title is a quote from Alistair Crowley. You can Google it to find out more. Even the album cover is a nod to him. The upcoming album Impera is about the rise and fall of empires and takes place in victorian era. Therefore the Steam Punk inspired music video. If you look at videos of the tour they're doing now with Volbeat you also see the new Steam Punk Ghouls. No problem if you don't like it. 👍

Mephistopheles is not the Devil. Mephisto was/is a literary character for the story of Faust, created and written by Gothe. Part one finally published in full in 1806 and part two in 1831. This song, like many others from them, I only started to fully enjoy after hearing more than once. For me at least Ghost has something in their songs that make you like them more and more each time you hear it until you can't like it anymore than you already do. But, even though I really enjoy this song now at days it really was a disappointment for me when it came out, cause after so many years not hearing anything from them, they suddenly come out with Hunter's Moon and this one and both of them, even though I enjoyed them, very much, aren't anything like 90% of Meliora and Prequelle

When I watch the video, it’s pretty clear that this song is about drug addiction. Don’t know how so many miss this. She literally comes into a scary situation and turns to drugs and overdoses and dies. The end is her dead, being embraced by the devil in the afterlife. Little sunshine is the evil that disguises itself as good, which is what drugs/alcohol do. They promise a relief and a friend in exchange for your very soul.

Interesting. I’ve heard other people’s thoughts of the song, but I haven’t heard that one before. I suppose everyone has their own different interpretation. I’m gonna give it another listen while keeping this in mind. Thank you for your comment.

No yea. The imagery is pretty clear - her life is in freefall, she sees no way out, and just decides to sit back and light up instead. If you try to quit, know that "you will never walk alone". Your old habits are always just a phonecall away.

I’m a fan of their earlier work. I love their early stuff. That’s why I gave it the rating I did. It’s not the Ghost music that I like or am used to. Make sense? Out of all their releases, this one seemed more tame and mundane for me. However, I’ve been listening to this song here and there, and I’m slowly coming around to it. It’s just gonna take me a few listens to appreciate it.

Just came across your reaction and subbed. At first i wasn't that fond of Ghost but i do like some of their songs now. Not sure if you two have heard the band Unleash The Archers and the song Awakening...if not, you two should try reacting to it. It's a bit more speed metal type and all the band members really kill it in that song.

I didn't like this one when I first heard it, but some Ghost songs really grow on me after a few listens and this one happened to. (I still feel like it gets a little repetitive toward the last 1/3rd or so.) The fact that you're willing to be straight up honest about your opinion and you're comfortable disagreeing with each other is *far* preferable to the compulsive fawning some people seem to demand, IMO.

It’s like there’s NO WAY that they absolutely LOVE every song and video they react to. I feel like they pretend on some of their videos to keep their ratings up. You know?

Some people are pretty open about the fact that they deliberately try to keep things positive and I think that's valid too as long as they're up front that it's what they're doing, it just isn't generally what I'm looking for. Some reactors though, yeah, you can tell if they were really that consistently blown away by everything, they'd be too overwhelmed by the miraculous existence of their camera to actually record anything.

I'm the same way as the guy in the beginning said, Ghost has some really catchy singles. I'm pretty big into extreme metal and ghost is a little too much of a "mainstream" band as hipstery as that sounds. But their biggest hits are easily their best, and they can write some catchy hooks like the progression in this song especially the chorus, dance macabre is another one of my favorites. I will say the chorus in this one is what I like it for. Everything outside of that is me waiting for that chord progression in the chorus. But the rest of their albums are so boring, I can't get through them.

That’s why I’m doing the “unsigned local bands block”. I’m doing songs and videos from bands that aren’t mainstream or signed. Because I feel like that’s where the gold is. Plus, it helps them get their name out there.
