Even though Google photos no longer offers free unlimited storage, the options available are still quite reasonable. You get 15GB of free storage- not really a lot, but Apple only gives you 5GB in comparison which is totally lame. And when you do have to pay on Google photos, it's cheaper. And Google photos doesn't appear to have any restrictions on photo/video quality- I believe it supports 4K and 8K with no problem (will cost you a lot of storage though) Oh and Google allows you to delete a photo/video from your current device without also deleting it from your account (and redownload it any time). Apple should take notes here!

? It's literally the same price, both support 4k and 8k and full res photos, you can optimize storage on the iphone you don't have to delete photos
@Matt-Are-Gee3 жыл бұрын
Plus the 5 years that you are able to upload that no storage cost, those photos will always remain free and not how to against storage. There's a blog post where it was something like a billion photos were uploaded every day and they weren't charging for it, there was no surprise of the day came when they eventually decided to stop unlimited free storage. Google photos is superior. As you say, Apple gives you a measly 5 GB. And of course I've never heard of Google photos being hacked. All you have to do is Google "iCloud hack" to see what I mean. Smh

I think this one of the few reasons why Android is just more Efficient and User friendly. You don’t even need to worry about managing photos, the phone automatically creates albums for the various apps you download pictures from (Chrome, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Snapchat, etc) Having that amount of flexibility, Ig most users take it for granted. After switching to iPhone, i realise how paralysing it is. It’s a good thing you can still use Google Photos even on iOS.

With google photos you can choose to delete photos on your phone while keeping them in the cloud, so you get more storage on your phone

I have found some new behaviour. This applies to Screenshots, at least. Many Screenshots are uploaded to Google Drive twice. One upload in MBs, and the other one in KBs. Somehow, both are shown as "Original Quality". This behaviour is helpful to me. I can keep one (whichever I want), and delete the other. Of course, it is time consuming.

@davidhughes93204 жыл бұрын
@@darwincruz20 I have used iCloud Photos since it was released and I am happy to pay for a service to keep my photos safe. I also uploaded to the free Google Photos service as another backup. I am a bit torn, because even though I use an iPhone, iPad and Mac, I still use Windows, and if I ever move to Android in the future, there is no iCloud Photos app on Android. Google Photos is cross platform, although I do wish they had an app for Windows and Mac (I doubt that, Google rarely creates desktop apps and pushes people towards the web) and now everyone will have to start paying for it, maybe they will improve privacy. If Apple creates an app for Windows and Android then I would be happy. With Apple Music on Android and Windows, I am hopeful more Apple services will become more cross-platform. iPhone growth is slowing, so Apple is looking to grow their services business and the most obvious way to grow is cross-platform. Not only that, Apple had some job listings for UWP Windows Developers, so maybe some new Windows apps are on the horizon.

Hi! I recently discovered that my iCloud storage is full and need to upgrade. So i decided to install google photos on my iPhone and mac. I have two questions please . 1. if i delete the photos from iPhone as they are backed up to google photos ,is it going to change the quality? I selected slightly reduced quality option but i read somewhere that photos taken by iPhone aren't any higher quality anyway. 2. When i backed up my mac ,it showed 52000 items got backed up but in google dashboard it shows only 26000 photos. You did mention at the end of this video that google photos store two photos for each . Is this the case? if so then how I can delete them from mac? My apologies but with mac I am finding it hard work with. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
@andrewoodutube4 жыл бұрын
You can delete the photos on the iPhone photo app after you have backed up all photos on to google photos. You will not loose any pictures, the google photo app has this as an option to free up space on your device. Most people would not be able to tell the difference between high quality and original.
@simplymobilechannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Only EVER delete photos from your device using the google app; this will ensure you are only deleting what is already back up. Go to Google Photos / Library / Utilities / Organise your Library and select FREE UP SPACE. This will ONLY delete what is 100% backed up. You will often find that it leaves a few photos behind on your device. I inevitably find that these have been backed up but there are usually only a few so I manually check them to be safe. I have yet to find one that was not backed up. Also; the quality that Google stores photos is more than enough. Google Photos will compress any photos larger than 16MP which is good enough for a 24in by 16in print. An iPhone 12 takes photos at 12MP so you are not losing any quality by storing in Google Photos.
