In this episode we tackle the building phase of our ICM Liberty Truck model project. The kit is relatively easy to build but challenges arise from ambiguous instructions and the lack of foolproof witness marks and alignment aids. It is possible to install certain parts incorrectly so dry fitting parts prior to assembly is crucial. Although some photographs of the Liberty are available online, detailed depictions are somewhat rare, which makes some assembly of the model challenging. Hopefully this video will help builders to overcome these ambiguities. Check back soon for part two where we'll paint and weather our Liberty!

Hi Robert. Amazing comment and very inspirational. ICM kits come with a headache or two free of charge but with a little love the kits eventually shape up nicely. Glad the video was of use to you and good luck with your projects.

Lots of dry-fitting and a little detective work is also on the menu. Still a very cool looking vehicle when built up. Thanks for the note Bill and good luck with your own projects!

Hi Steve. Always nice to read your notes. Still some filling work to be done and we'll look at modifying the hood leaf so we can expose that awesome engine. Then on to the wet stuff in the next installment. Stay well my friend and all the best to you!

I have built both a Model T Ambulance and Armored Car, and had the same problems with those kits. They are frustrating to build, but nice when they are done. I'm glad you are straightforward in your build opinions, think you are doing a great job, and I look forward to part two!

Hi John, thank you for the nice comment and words of encouragement! What brand were the ambulance and armored car (so I can stay away from them). I don't mind little fixes but juggling the builds with trying to get the videos out in a reasonable time means I appreciate kits with good engineering. Still we must try new things lest the channel turns in to a Tamiya only feature. I've had good luck with the newer Meng and Takom kits. Had to try ICM. They have cool subject matter but they have a way to go to play in the A league. All the best to you!

Hey TD, thanks for your note. Hopefully it'll help people to navigate the kit's shortcomings. Still, looking forward to painting so it really comes to life.

This video is another example of why I think your build reviews are the best available: there's no cursory "fit is good" or "filling will be needed" but, instead, there's a wealth of well-explained and illustrated points to help a potential builder to negotiate the kit's anomalies. Thanks yet again Tom!

Thank you for the always awesome note Mr. Cheeseman! I just couldn't bear having my model-building brothers stepping on one of this kit's hidden landmines. But that damn steering rod still has me befuddled to this day. Until I find a descent picture of the thing it will remain one of life's great mysteries. Thanks again John, your note is an inspiration!

Good video 👍 🎥. You probably saved a number of people from making mistakes with the parts placement. Now you need the ICM/Revell 1/35 Model T ambulance 😀

I had the same issues with this kit. It is a nice build once you get past the lack of info in the instructions.

No one should have to suffer alone my friend. Suffice it to say I had to edit out a lot of cussing in the audio lest YT bans the video. But we shall overcome! All the best to you Vic.

I wish I'd found this video before I started on this kit. The instructions are truly terrible. This is the 3rd ICM kit I've done - the 2nd one actually ended up in the trash. This one came close, and may have shared that same fate if it wasn't for this vid. ICM has some great subjects, but it's going to be a stretch to go for another.

I totally feel your pain as this kit was an adventure. Truth be known, I made a bad error when building it because of the confusing instructions. Normally I would retire the build and move on to something new but I wanted to finish the episode so I had to buy the kit again for the fresh parts I needed. Maybe its a marketing ploy by ICM! I'm an experienced builder so God help beginners trying to tame this kit. Still, ICM as a brand has a lot of potential and most new companies, sadly, need some time to get their act together. Maybe one day Tamiya will expand their catalog to include more WW1 subject matter but until then, it's the wild west for us. Hopefully the video will spare others from our anguish. Don't get discouraged. With all the videos and forums around these days it gives us a chance to evaluate a kit before we buy it. Trust me, I learned that lesson the hard way. Thanks for the note and for watching and good luck with your future projects.

Thank-you for your comment! Had a quick look at your model and she looks fine indeed! You're right, it's not the easiest model to build and it does take patience to get it to fall together. Still for anyone looking to build something a little different than the standard tank fare, it's a good choice. Good luck with your own projects and thanks for watching!
