Hey Tom great show, what about doing a show at 1:48 scale armor? I would appreciate that
@stevieRay32114 күн бұрын
Hey Sam, thanks for the note. I've never actually worked in 1/48th so I don't think I'd really have the authority to comment on those little fellars. The universal rule in plastic modeling is, "you can't go wrong with Tamiya". Their kits aren't the most detailed or intricate - if that's your thing - but their engineering is world class and their kits are easy to build. Plus they've started adding PE and metal barrels to some of their kits and usually come with figures and stowage as value-adding features. But thanks for the suggestion and I may take you up on the request in the future. Good luck with your own projects!

I've been looking for a mod for YEARS & YEARS that adds a sentry and follows you throughout the game in its entirety. This video, with all due respect, gives me a damn headache. I mean; WHA?! So if anybody out there is willing or has the time can you make such a mod? Tomas? is it possible?
@stevieRay321113 күн бұрын
I looked in the console commands and there are ways to add things into the level you're playing but not the sentry. I found one mod that adds a sentry with a plasma gun; www.gamefront.com/games/doom-iii/file/plasma-sentry-bot/download I can't vouch for this mod as I haven't installed it but it looks legit - I downloaded it and read the notes and it seems to do what you want. Try it but I can't verify if it works. Otherwise, search the web or a mod or for information on how to add a sentry. I haven't developed in D3 for years so I can't make anything for you.

@@stevieRay3211 " I can't make anything for you". Damnit! I was relying on you too!! lol...just playn. Yea...as I've said; I've looked for years but to no avail. However there was one mod that didn't really work. I can't find it or remember what the mod was called but the poor 'lil guy would get stuck all the time and I would have to spawn another one and another one and another one. So for me to rid all of the sentry's I would have to shoot em all. But anyways...thank you very much for replying. I appreciate that and I will give that mod a try right now. I will report back to let you know.
@stevieRay321113 күн бұрын
@ - For the heck of it I ran that mod and right away the sentry gets stuck. Makes sense since the game maps where the sentry doesn't appear aren't set up for the sentry - probably no monster clips to help it out. Likely the same story with the companion NPCs that come in the mod. The mod is a cool concept, but without revising the game maps with clips to help with pathing, the mod is probably troublesome. Would only work on a custom map that has clips to fix the pathing.

Unfortunately a few of the commands are kind of weird - for example delete is back arrow, toggle through views (XYZ) is ctr-tab etc. Click on the help>commands in the editor top nav bar - that gives some of the keys but unfortunately not all of them. I don't think the internet has any "commands" lists for the D3 editor. But the "cheats" for D3 can easily be found on the web - those commands are handy command line commands to help with map building. Unfortunately, It'll be pick and peck until you sort out the keys. 😒

If nothing else mapping in the D3 editor is really fun and interesting. Since the game is 20 years-old, unfortunately, it doesn't have much of a community of mappers or players left. In the old days, you could upload a level or campaign and quite a few people would download and play it. Not so much these days. Still, messing with the D3 editor is a great way to learn level design. It got me a level design job back in 2008. Still, I wonder if the glory days for D3 have slipped into history. Either way, good luck with your endeavors!

Since entities have more keys available than are presented in the Entity Window, do you know where they can be found? The func_earthquake, for instance, seems to play for a random amount of time and I'd like to see if I can set it to a fixed value.
@stevieRay32118 ай бұрын
Sorry Roger, it's been too many years since I've messed with the editor so my memory of its functions is pretty foggy. I wasn't aware of the "extra" key/vals so not sure how you'd customize the func-earth quake.

How much dilution for the main green color on top in order to show the some undercoat of raw steel color? 😅
@stevieRay32119 ай бұрын
Hey Silvestersze, thanks for the note. The undercoat color is sort of a raw steel colour which is very close to black. The lights and the video sometimes distort the actual colour. I add a bit of red and brown to give it that light rust patina look. Look at these raw steel slabs, www.pinterest.ca/pin/137359857361138693/. You can even see some blue in there. I don't dilute the overcoat to show the metal colour underneath. Rather, I spray lightly with an airbrush so as not to cover the undercoat completely.

Bare metal that's exposed to the air and elements looses it's shine almost right away. Also you likely don't want too much bright shiny metal on your tank. You can highlight, here and there, with a pencil but don't overdo it. See the M5 video, it shows the pencil treatment. Good luck.
