ICOM IC-706 ALC Adjustment Tutorial

Unfortunately these 70 year old eyes are not as sharp and I don't have a magnifying glass. I tried jewelers screwdrivers and none of them seemed to turn anything, didn't feel like I was getting it in the slot. Do you remember if it takes a slotted or Phillips or some other sort of screwdriver? de WB8BHK

I think Doug you maybe talking about the speech compressor setting. I have the 706. Page 27 in the manual. May be different on the 706mk2g though.

The SSB RF is sometimes to suppressed on tx on many HF radios to much ALC can be a bad thing when your doing qrp out of an apartment window thats me too 😅. Proper modulated RF is expected. Another 706 plus is that turning the RF down to 10 watts and driving a solid state amplifier good for 10-20 meters. That mic looks be a good replacement when the original is deteriorating. Greetings dear friend. Could you help me to be in the SET MODE ADJUSTMENT of the Icom IC-706 MKIIG? I don't know the type and configuration of the Plug that is connected to the REMOTE to access its Service Menu.

I thought there was a alc adjust knob on the outside left if this radio.. if so would that do the same thing as you did adjusting that inside...not tryna be a smart azz just a honest question I'd like a honest answer I have the icom 706mk2g and never opened or adjusted anything tho it was purchased from a ham guy who had it setup nice already....thanx

Oh nvrnind that's a compressor adjustment pot....so would this lot u adjusted just be the mic gain

Hello friend, I'm Brazilian and my IC 706mk2g is perfect but the "S-Meter" does not show faithful reception, only strong signals appear in the graphic bar, the reception is very good but the graphic bar does not show the weakest signals. Is there any fix for this issue. a hug PU2LSW
