My ears hear the 7300 sounding better, but I have old ears. This settles nothing for me, I'll have to bench them SxS and pick a winner, but I am familiar with the 7300 and did NOT like the menus on the 991A, despite being a long-time Yaesu user.

"It is proving to be a challenging task to make a decision. I currently possess the IC7300, and I must confess my dissatisfaction with its noise reduction capability. Consequently, I tend to lean more towards a BHI DSP speaker, as it appears to be superior in this regard. Although I have not yet had the opportunity to evaluate the Yaesu 710, based on the video , it appears to be a promising alternative."

My brother in law uses the NHI DSP speaker with his ICOM IC-7300, too! He called the local electric company. The electric company came twice to fix the old lines and connectors. Fixing the bad stuff helped lower the noise considerably!

The 710 noise reduction is watery trash after level 3. Really bad. Get the DX10 if you want a significant improvement over the 7300.

Sorry Pal, you showed different NR Levels by 710, not from 7300. But Algorythms differ. Microfoning internal Speakers means nothing in terms of comparing Sound Quality from RIG itself, line level sound had to be recorded from USB output. Was RX sound set to flat on both, and was NF Bandwith same Lo and High i.e. 100 - 2800Hz ? Kind Regards, Phil.

7300 AGC is on Manual and the 710 is on auto. Needs to redo everything:)
@RichRodgersOnline11 ай бұрын
The 7300 has 3 preset AGC settings for all modes except the FM mode. The time constants are Fast, Mid and Slow. When you see the AGC-M it means MID for the AGC not Manual.

exactly , you can have one set manual and the other agc auto.

@@deanblake5072 M is mid response time for the 7300 Automatic Gain Control, not M for Manual Gain Control. I do agree that the gain response time on the 710 seemed a bit faster though.

I find that the menu system on the 710 is much easier than the IC7300. Once everything is set up, you just hit the func button and you have the main menu(most used items). I also love the 3D waterfall. I use it exclusively. Signals stand out!

Thanks for that comparison, i agree not much in it . I have the icom ic 7300 . I don't use the NR much , my 'go to' is and has been the RF gain . Only the RF gain is very poor on the 7300 , somewhat spoiling a otherwise great rig . I find the front end RF on a supperhet is much better than my ic7300 or my Xiegu G90 or my Xiegu x6100 . My past and present ic781 ,ts870 , ic746 ,ic 7200 ( the best ), ic703 ft3000 , all have a brilliant RF gain control. The hybrid 101 or ftdx10 might be best of both worlds ? Sadly yaesu ergonomics and interface is very regressive for me . We await the perfect rig , lol .

Hi Rob, I was speaking to a friend who is having his Omni worked on. He said most of the SDR radios are geared more towards Digital, I guess FT-8 ETC. He said most of the rigs like the 7300 and FT-710 don't have the Crystal IF Filters which makes the rig sounds good on SSB. I notice on the 710 turning down the RF knob cuts down the hash noise or background noise. On my 7300, I can turn the RF gain all the way down to zero and the hash noise is still there. I have heard the Icom IC 7610 SSB sounds better maybe it has the Crystal IF Filters. I wished Icom would come out with a IC-7310 which would have the better filtering in the IF. Just have the one radio not 2 radios in one. 73, Rich

Why are the NB’s on modern equipment garbage. Icom, Yaesu. Power line noise at my friends house 9 S units. Neither of these radios noise blanking had any effect. He hooks up his Mark V. Turns on the NB without any DNR and the noise was reduced to 2 S units. Another friend owns the 7610 and he also stated the NB is rubbish.
