Best 7610 walk through I've seen in one video! Thanks for sharing your time in posting this video. Frankly, it's beyond me why the manufacturers find no value in showcasing their own products as thoroughly as you have done. Nice job! If any Yaesu sales reps or proactive dealers are watching, send this man a FTdx 101D/MP, for free or cost, in turn for a proper video walk through of All features and functions rather than the poorly done 2 minute snippets of a feature or two. If you are proud of your product then flaunt it! It should go along way in increasing your sales, IMO.

Hi, thanks for the great review, I was wondering if the 7610 can be controlled using some listener program like I have for example ELAD FDM Duo, which can work with my frequency database, display them in a spectrum, etc. I only know about SDR Control programs, which is intended more for radio amateurs, then original from Icom and wfview, also more programs for radio amateurs. As I am also a HAM, but an avid listener outside of the HAM bands, I would like one device for these two activities. Thanks for the information.

Own both and they are both great. Having the second receiver is handy to me. Fills my multitasking addiction. I really couldn't choose one now that I have used both. The Kenwood sounds better to my ears and cw decode/encode feature is priceless to me. The second receiever on the 7610 for DXing is also priceless. Yet to play with the 101D which has both features. Also dont like the screen font/look of the 101D as much. Curious how the DNR performs in my noisy environment.

Hi Jeff, I did consider the TS-890 very seriously, but since I already had the TS-990 and I wanted to try something new I decided to go with the IC-7610. Plus the price of the TS-890 in Canada exceed the value of a used TS-990, this felt like paying for a downgrade, at least in my mind because I know the TS-890 has a better receiver. Going with the IC-7610 I knew it will be different plus I used the saving to buy the IC-7300. All situations are different, my advice will be going with your budget and your heart ;-) 73 Pascal VA2PV

Hi Pascal. Great video on the IC 7610. I Absolutely love mine and use it more than the IC 7851. I see that one of the comments is related to the new Yaesu FTDX 101D. What I would like to say, and yes I have am a massive ICOM fan, is that the new radio from Yaesu is not a true SDR radio like the IC 7610. It is actually front end analog with a back end DSP. This technology was use last in the ICOM Pro lll. The new Kenwood is also the same and so to call them SDR radios is slightly miss leading. If there are any viewers that find this hard to believe then just as the question, I have. 73 G7 EMK.

Hello Sir, The Yaesu FTdx 101D is Number 1 on the Sherwood report and is marginally cheaper,plus two independent receivers with 2 SDR receivers per receiver where the Icom only has one per receiver,plus the CW decoder on the Yaesu. your thoughts?
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Hi, in Canada the 100W version of the FTdx101D is 1200$ more expansive than the IC-7610 and the 200W version is 1700$ more. I thought about waiting for this rig but I was scared that in a few months Yaesu will come out with a new release version with corrected problems and the first version will loose a lot of values because it's not the "A" version. This is what happens with the FT-991 (replace with the FT-991A) and the FTM-400DR (replace with the FTM-400XDR). I was affected with both of these radios so I went with a sure value because I change gear often and retaining value is important. 73 Pascal VA2PV
@vkradio16565 жыл бұрын

@@vkradio1656 Interesting, thanks for sharing the information. The Sherwood rating is not the end-all and it really depends on your use of the radio. His ratings if you read his page is mainly concentrated on CW operation. Although his page is useful, his numbers are laboratory numbers. If you’re into sideband, I bet any of the top 15 radios is just fine. Never fully decide which radio you wanna buy just from his ratings. Heck he would probably tell you that. There’s lots of other things to consider. Ergonomics is one of them and build quality is another.

In real terms, forget the dual receive and extra toys. Does the 7610 have a big difference in terms of sensitivity and selectivity over the 7300? Does the digi sel and general front end performance deliver three times the performance over the 7300? As it is three times the price.
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Hi, any received signal on the IC-7610 are also received on the IC-7300. I can notice a slightly better receiver on the IC-7610. Your price comparison is not accurate. If you buy 2x IC-7300 and want to use one as a sub receiver you will need a special device like the DX Engineering RTR-2A to share the antenna, plus you will have to block the TX on the sub receiving unit (for protection). The second unit won't mute when you transmit. You also get the remote software integrated into the IC-7610, with the IC-7300 you need a dedicated PC. With the IC-7610 you also get a much bigger screen (7") + an external display DVI-D port, all of this not available on the IC-7300. With the IC-7610 you can do some digital mode directly with a USB keyboard, you can't on the IC-7300. If you list everything and had the extra hardware or software, you are better off with the IC-7610. But if you only need a good HF without all the listed bells and whistles, go with the IC-7300. I hope this help. I will make a video about this later on this summer. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Great video. I loved this. You probably are going to laugh now but I never heard about this model 7610, only the 7300 which seems to be super popular especially among the FT8 users. Than there is the 7851 which I believe is way to much money for the radio itself. I will gladly spend the money in between on antennas instead. Anyway, I liked this a lot. Can you make a video explaining the difference between the 7610 and the 7851? Also, you did not explain much of the backside of the 7610? Tell more about remote work? Is this icom like older Icoms where you have to have special microphones ? How big is the screen? Can you make a video about like 5 things you like about the rig and 5.things you dont (or think they could have made.different). What features are you missing? You have a new subscriber 73

Hi Sascha, I really love the IC-7610 and my SteppIR antenna, can't wait for the band condition to be back. When your antenna is up, let me know maybe we can have a QSO on Saturday morning. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Getting back on the air when I retire this year, this will be the transceiver I buy. 73

I have owned my 7610 for less than a week and I am not even a little bit excited by it? I was excited about the ICOM 7700 that I lost to a lightning strike but not at all with the 7610? It’s OK but it will never compare to the 7700 in my opinion.🎙

JUNK RF Gain! I don't want another attenuator, I want a fuggin RF Gain - like my Collins, Kenwoods, Yaesus, older Icoms and every other non-CB radio I've ever used. No 7610 for me.

All it is two 7300's in one box at three times the price. you sure blab a lot, 3 minutes plus said nothing, thank you for telling what the transmit button did, who knew?

When I'm done with the reviews, I will compare the IC-7300 and the IC-7610 because I received this question / statement many times before. I did cover all the buttons and knobs of this radio and I didn't skip any even for the most obvious one. 73 and thanks for watching anyway. Pascal VA2PV

@@Laboenligne A 30 minute video with 10 minutes of content. What does the power button do? What do you plug into the microphone jack? Filming? There is film in the camera?
