Great review. You hit the nail on the head about the DSP chip, the NR is not very effective and the filtering system was designed by an engineer on an LSD trip. Otherwise I love this radio. Thanks for sharing!

i had the r71 with notch brand new it cost me 649 pounds did not like am audio to narrow filter but ssb was fantastic i would have liked the r75 display on that radio thank you for your videos all the best

You need an icom 705 you'll love it I'm a swl had nearly all hf receivers 705 you won't beat plus airband marine band vhf and scanning with station names band and waterfall nr notch twin pbt carry around with you Bluetooth for external speakers and much much more

Still & all, still one of the best ever. I prefer it over the new R8600. Not sure what Icom was thinking on that rig.

What on earth could possibly be wrong with an 8600? The filters on an 8600 are something that could only be dreamed of when the Icom R75 was introduced 2 decades ago lol

Filters are only one thing LMAO!! How about updating the F/W of the 8600? The 705 & 7610 have improved scroll, but not the Premium TOTL 8600. Usability of the R75 is superior. LOL LOL. 🤪
