Hi everyone. I just played my own video after receiving a few comments. Wow- the RTTY at the beginning is definitely way too loud. I want to apologize to anyone who watches with headphones. I promise I'll get that fixed in the next one. 73, Tom

Hi Tom - I wanted to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to you for doing what you're doing. After much research I decided on the 7300 and I absolutely love it; BUT, the instruction manual just doesn't do it justice answering the WHYs and does a marginal job of the HOWs. So THANK YOU for taking the time to go through each feature and explain what it does and what settings we should use. I've produced and edited videos before so I know how much work and time are involved. If I were ICOM, I'd be all over this and sending you every rig in their lineup free of charge AND I'd be sponsoring this channel. A couple of quick suggestions - and do feel free to delete this comment after you've read it. You can reach me via QRZ page if you want to. 1) Give us a way to thank you. Go to Amazon, create a specific Wish List for this channel and include the link in the Description of every video you've done and do in the future. What you're doing is valuable and as much as you enjoy it, it takes time. Sounds like folks are already sending you stylus' (styli?) so make it easier to do so by linking to an Amazon Wish List. 2) Use the Description area more to provide any supporting links, standard info about yourself and perhaps even room for a well-placed sponsor link or two. Example: As a viewer you know I have a 7300 and since I'm here I likely JUST bought it or am still figuring it out. Most likely I don't have a lot of the accessories, so consider joining as an Amazon affiliate and linking to specific products in the description of every video as a way to support your channel and make it worth your while. Best of luck and thank you again! Adam W7MP

Hi Adam. Thank you so much for the kind words and your suggestions. I truly appreciate all of the complements and comments that I get. Knowing that people are finding the videos useful really helps to keep me going. I appreciate your suggestions. I have thought about monetizing to help support and improve the channel, but I really needed to get some credibility and consistency built up first. Actually, I'll be turning on KZbin monetizing shortly. I'm hoping that everyone will be okay the Google ad at the beginning going forward. Although, I find that nearly every KZbin video I watch starts with a short ad. So it shouldn't be anything people aren't used to. I hope to continue expanding and improving the channel going forward. I look forward to keeping in touch. 73, Tom

I was just looking for something simple. on my kenwood five ninety I turn the volume up or down with a knob. I have looked at about several videos on this radio. that is the reason I wanted one. I have a seven o6 and it is old school, but I love it. I think I have found how to turn it up or down. i know the receive on this one is better than my kenwood. I was running them side by side and the noise level and receive was better on the Icom. I love my kenwood, but i think I will like this one better and i paid a lot less for it.

I recently acquired a malfunctioning Icom IC-7000 version 1, which is configured for Japan. I got it functioning on the Japanese frequencies. Which cripples 2 meters to be 144Mhz to 145.99Mhz and 70 centimeters to be 430Mhz to 439.99Mhz. A MARS modification opened the HF frequencies to transmit from 1.6Mhz to 26Mhz and 28Mhz to 30Mhz. VHF and UHF is still transmitting the same as before the modification. However, receive is now 0Mhz to 199.99 Mhz and 400Mhz to 470Mhz. It appears the Japanese version is locked in a more strict manner than the ones from other nations. The purpose of repairing the radio was to perhaps sell it to make $800 to $900. However, this crippled radio will likely not fetch anywhere near that amount in other nations other than Japan. But videos like the one here have me thinking, perhaps I should not try to sell the radio and consider getting an amateur radio license and using the radio. Granted, VHF and UHF are going to be severely hobbled, but HF is actually completely open, save 26Mhz to 27.999Mhz. I have been a hobbyist a long time. Maybe it is time to take the next step into becoming an amateur radio operator. I could never get $800 to $900 for a crippled Icom IC-7000 versión one with Japanese owner's manuals.

@HamRadioA2Z Жыл бұрын
Hi. Based on your repairs and mods, it sounds like you could easily pass your amateur exam. You are correct that Japan versions of radios are harder to sell in the U.S. I believe Japanese law requires manufacturers to make it physically impossible to expand transmit coverage outside of allowed bands. I will look forward to hearing you on the air when you get your license.

ICom 7300 : When you transmit there is a wave form scope next to the marker only when transmiting How do you get that Anyone know .
@HamRadioA2Z
@HamRadioA2Z 10 ай бұрын
In the Scope Set Screen there is an option called "Scope during TX". If you turn that on, you'll see your waveform when transmitting. This only works when the scope is in the CENTER mode. If it's in FIXED mode, the scope just stops during transmit.

Hi. I don't know of any way to do this with the IC-7300. The IC-705 does have an option to set a picture stored on the SD card for display when the radio powers on. Is it possible you were seeing a tutorial for the 705 or maybe some other radio?

@HamRadioA2Z
@HamRadioA2Z 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan. I’m afraid not. You have to fix the time and adjust the UTC offset manually for daylight savings and standard time. There’s really no easy way to have the radio do this automatically. The rules about when to change or whether to change at all vary from country to country and even from state to state in the U.S. So the radio would either need to know where it is on the planet or have a menu of all the different rules to pick from. It would also require a firmware update every time any country or state changes their rules.
