A lot of people dont get that this song is about surrounding yourself with those who will help you out of your depression together rather than not move foward at all and instead always talk about how bad it all is but not do anything to change. This happened to me and though you love them, its like theres none of them left to love. It proves to be very toxic and theyre great people, but i much prefer to hang out with a crowd that doesnt drag me down with them.

I've had a terrible habit of being in and out of psych wards. It was always the same. I go in claiming to need help, I leave claiming that I feel better, I get out patient help, take my meds for a while, then at some point I start forgetting to take them, everything goes to shit and I end up back in the hospital. For me, this song is like me speaking to myself. I truly meant it when I said that I want to get better. The last time I left the hospital, I told this really nice nurse that the only way I would step foot on this ward again would either be in handcuffs or nurse scrubs. Thanks to this song, I have made true on that promise. It's been almost two years since I was last hospitalized. Thank you, Icon For Hire!

My best friend sent me this song years ago. I don't know if he just liked it or if the meaning hit him as deeply as it hit me when I first heard it. I've struggled with mental health my whole life - and I'm finally seriously getting better and seeing differences. It's not easy. Breaking the cycles is difficult, but worth it. I just confronted a family member who has narcissistic traits and stood up for myself. This is a major step for me, as I've always had confidence issues and severe anxiety. I have to say that your music helped me through hard times when I was in and out of the hospital trying to cope with my mental illness. Cheyenne Heatley This does not mean they are denying being a Christian band. it simply means they will not be limited by their religion in terms of venues and image. They even say in that quote that if they "follow the way of a typical Christian band". This implies that they are indeed Christian, but are not following a path laid before them. They are creating their own path. :)

The band members, yes. They do consider themselves Christian. But just because the band members are Christan, does not mean the band is. To prove my point: Ariel says - “Why do you care if we’re not a Christian band? Is it that important to you? It’s the same music, either way, so why do you only want to listen to it if it’s labeled that way?” Ariel says - “Why, tell me, do you get your own kind of music? Muslims don’t get their own music industry. Jews or Hindus don’t need a brand of music to call their own.” Ariel says - Guess what, dear Christian music lover, Icon For Hire is not exclusive to you, you cannot own us. Ariel says - But don’t you dare try to keep us in your little christian world and hide us from where are desperately needed. It doesn’t work. If I want to impact culture, I have to get dirty! Very interesting lyrics, i suffered from hard stuff and i think this speaks about depression and mental ilness and the feeling people get about not getting fun and being good with others hapiness as they view them as happier than themselfes, but you just wanna get well and be like the others and not being down , the line " it's only a game you lost me, i quit it with the suicidal recital" is like fuck this and i quit with these bad feelings, and lets overcome it. Very good mensage and this song rocks!

I knew this song long ago, when I didn't knew English, my father played this song in the car and I loved it. And now, after 5 years i found it and only now I understood the words... Edit: 2024 now and I'm still here, thank you, KZbin for recommending me this masterpiece again, i still love it so much. And of course the lyrics hit differently now, then in childhood and even more different thaqn a year ago when this comment was originally written. I really appreciate this band and especially this song. It helped me realize making myself miserable on purpose even when I didn’t have to and hurting myself repeatedly would only get myself deeper into a hole that would only end with me in a grave. I come back to listen to their music sometimes just to remind myself where I should be and that I shouldn’t let myself ever get that bad again. I hope everyone realizes there’s always hope and despite how fuckin horrible it can get, there’s something waiting for you in the future. Why not live to see it?

I wish I'd found this band earlier in my life and I wish I'd remember them when things start looking down for me. This song literally captures everything wrong with people who wallow in self pity all the time. Sometimes you really need to look at who you're hanging out with, who you're dedicating a lot, if not all, of your valuable time to, and you might find that maybe they're not as great for your mental health as you think, and subsequently you might not be very good for theirs. I recently cut ties completely (or at least as completely as I can) with a girl that I love because I realized she's been a major source of stress for me for years, to the point where some of my other friends and I at one point actually bonded over how much stress she's caused me. I didn't wanna do it and I still wish I didn't have to, but I did what I needed to and I honestly feel better than I have in a long while. The point is, don't be afraid to cut the really toxic people out of your life if you need to. You'll both likely be better off in the long run

The walls collapsing in reminded me of my brief stay in a mental hospital as a little kid. I was about five or six, and everything was so white and sterile. The place itself was actually rather large and open, given that it was technically a children's care facility, but it felt tiny. No matter where you went, everything was extremely claustrophobic.
