ICON i40L UP CLOSE LOOK OVERVIEW/REVIEW

We get a close look at the new icon i40L. Just like our evolution review video we go over all of icon's features. How does this cart compare to the big 3 Yamaha, ezgo, club car? Well to be honest we are impressed by this cart. This cart is powered by a 5kw ac motor and 450 amp controller ( yes this is a factory upgrade). Great acceleration, speed and the most important being able to stop all that power with 4 wheel disc brakes! The ride comfort is amazing as it sitting on 4 coil over shock a lot of yamaha design resemblance on the frame when we put it up in the air. Full street legal from the factory with Daytime running light with turn signals, brake lights , high/ low beam lights as well. 4 passenger seat belts, two tone seats, long roof, on board charger, Trojan batteries. 2 year parts warranty. After watching this video, I researched this model more, and . . . purchased one. The ICON i40L, with Lithium battery, side steps (it has a 6inch lift), onboard 8 speaker stereo, wood grain dash and steering wheel. I love it! I am still getting used to the spring loaded GO pedal, it is very sensitive, and has a learning curve. Anyway, thanks for the extensive review, it was great seeing up underneith . . . still looking for the hydraulic oil resevoir, it has 4-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, must have a small tank somewhere - I am told it may be behind the dash.

Great video I recently bought the Advanced ev model (6 inch lift) which is basically the same as the ICON I was wondering if the lifted model can be lowered about 2 inches which would make it a lot easier to get on and off ..

Currently there is no lowering kits for the lifted carts. This is something i want to explore and find a option for. As for many of the new carts they are frame lifted and not suspension lifted. I have not tried anything but just a thought possibly a shorter coil over spring may bring the ride height down.

We have not seen the voyager carts yet. I did look them up. Looks like the cart is the same chassis style as the kandi carts. Also the 65 amp hr battery seems really low for a 4 passenger cart. Other then that looks like a nice cart. Thanks for subscribing appreciate you watching!

@@mikehood7096 I do like the icon so far it has been proven to be a solid cart. Also icon stands behind their products and dealers. They really try to handle any warranty items as fast as possible. Only can tell you from my experience as we are a dealer for them. Only have had a few issues with the all the carts we sold so far.

I don't need the backup camera or the stereo though, I will ask if the have Icon or Royal instead have just a gutted model no fancy stuff, just lithium battery, lights, turning signals . I'm wanting to attach my cargo cart in a back trailer hitch... any ideas on a newer release for a tough golf cart almost a utility golf cart? Thanks

We think the biggest issue is the seats currently. Other thing was the pedal response some are really touchy. Also the regen is up high sometimes on them. However that is not much of a issue now that there is software out to adjust all that.

Great video guys. I have a 2022 icon i40. I bought the navitas controller just to find out the new icons no longer use the Toyota neos and the new controller uses a 35 pin wiring harness. I bought a new harness but can’t get all the wires to match up. Have you guys tried installing navitas on new icon?

We have not. Its on the list to do but seems we get so busy with day to day operations. Have you tried to contact navitas. They may have something in the works already for this issue. What controller is in the cart now?

I recently purchased an Evolution Classic 4 Pro. It does not have side or back curtains available. Do you have any recommendations for installing curtains.I o not want over the top.

Bob i do not know of any covers for the evolution classic 4 pro. Over the top covers may be the only option at this time. Or having one custom made.

I still have a little before retirement but am looking at different options for now. IF you get the seats in the back, are they permanent or can you easily swap them out for an area for golf bags?

Its more permanent. However. They have options for utilizing the "kick back rack" on the rear to holster golf bags. While still keeping your 4 seater set up.

Do the brights stay on like a car? Also, why does the steering wheel have a horn like button in the middle but the horn is on the lights controller?

The brights do not stay on like a car you have to hold it back. Not exactly sure why it was designed this way. All the aftermarket steering wheels have the horn button. They are a universal steering wheel that would work for a car with the right adaptor is why they horn button is there. In the golf cart the design is much simpler than a car. All the wires stay on the steering column. There is nowhere to run the wires to have the horn button work when turning the wheel, the wires would twist and break after time.

Icon is the better cart in our opinion. I’m picking brakes and suspension over the lithium battery. The icon feels solid and gives smooth and quite ride. Prefer the icon on overall looks as well.

I’m looking at i60 and I read all the parts are made in China. I’ve heard horror stories in todays world where Icon controller goes bad and customers are waiting 6 months for a replacement part. Do they not have lots of parts in stock at the dealers and HQ in Tampa? My only hesitation is spending 12K and having something go wrong and it sits in my garage for 6 months waiting for parts.

Yes they do have a lot of parts in stock. Unfortunately this is going to be the same even if you stick with one of the 3 main manufactures. All the stuff mostly comes from China. Icon is selling more units here in the us then ever before. Controllers on the new carts have been changed from a neos controller to a lv tong controller. Same controller that is in a ev titan, advance ev, and a few more carts i cant think of right now.

@@noahboock whoa bro? 19mph? That isn't what we do in Arizona and all of our icon carts go 25mph standard! Check with your dealer. We have agm batteries now as standard in some locations and always an option, but the agm batteries with the new 450amp controller make icon carts glide brother! The new 450 controller is standard now on all icon vehicles 💯

Seems quality control doesn't realize you Don't charge AGM batteries with Flooded battery algorithms either.. Just take off work to get it to a dealer and "if" there is a problem.. we'll cover "that" cost of updating the charger.. Let's just say Icon and I are not on the best of terms with my new cart purchase right now. Flooded battery charge cycle with AGM batteries seems to be a MAJOR issue for them right now.

Sorry you are having issues with icon. Can not say we have had the same experience with them so far. We are a dealer for them so far on any warranty claim they have not denied anything we have submitted. You are correct it is only a parts warranty. Icon has the best warranty on there cars even if the customer dose not do there routine maintenance on the power train parts they will cover it as long as it’s fully intact it can take a few weeks for the turn around some times

The cart is brand new and if you have trouble with the batteries when they are new...LOOK OUT. ICON does NOT stand behind them!! You have fight them for every little fix even though they admitted they are BAD. Just not a good customer service experience over the first year of being an ICON Owner. I WOULD NOT recommend anyone to buy one because of the issues we have had!!@@Stingyduce
