Seeing this woman at 3 years old made me decide to help animals. She brought hope to a very Bleak childhood in the foster care system. It is because of her that at 39 I finally have my own Animal Shelter. I don't think I'll ever be able to repay what this woman did for my life!

"Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do"- Voltaire Doing good feels good, and before reagan altruism was not shunned as some lefty plot to emasculate the tribal males. She said #45 was displaying male chimp behavior as he feels threatened. Kudos for your shelter. I flew with some Drs Without Borders home from a mission in Peru and they had a glow about them and were excited to share the experience. They do that for free and their air travel was free compliments of my airline, I was a cabin member. My daughter works with special needs patients, all ages and got a hug from an autistic patient who never shows emotion, so this was a win. My girl told "It feels good to do good" as she recognized the evolution. Remember the AHA! moments when a solution becomes clear? Good on ya again! Life is a grand journey!

That was one of the most beautiful and profound interviews I have ever seen. I love Dr. Goodall's calm and sincere approach to everything, in particularly when speaking about the chimpanzees that opened her world and ours to a greater understanding of humanity. I am also very appreciative of the respect and warmth shown by Ari Melber to her. Thank you!

It's wonderful to see all these stories from people expressing their admiration and inspiration of Jane Goodall. I was older when I became inspired by Goodall. Prior to that I knew who she was and a little about be what she did but it wasn't until the movie Gorillas in the Mist came out that peaked my interest in Goodall.

This was a great interview. I have to say, I really truly admire Jane Goodall. She's so honest and nice, and intelligent, and compassionate, and driven. All things I admire in other people. She sees the same things in the animals around her, and the same boxes people have been placing around them, that I've always seen. Also, her speech, her mannerisms, her looks, remind me of my grandma. My grandma was my favorite person in the world. Thank you for doing a full interview with her like this, giving her the time she deserves. I will be sharing this link with the environmental group I'm part of so they can see it and be inspired to act also.

Since hand-pulled chicken coops exist and organic family farms (i.e. farms which don't put the cattle in a giant cramped room filled with milking machinery), exist but are expensive, and they are needed for a transition in the way we eat and they help localities, I think Goodall allows herself the occasional treat of eggs or milk: since clams and scallops lack consciousness, it is possible she very rarely eats them. I wonder if she has eaten termites?

Jane is right about animals having their own personalities and being aware, thinking beings. I've watched my cats, and see how they pause, considering something. I've seen my cats laugh, and angry and get upset if we laugh because they come into the house angry about getting drenched in the rain. I have also seen them tease their companion in a good-natured way. I'm sure this applies to all species of animals.

Having read this article on Substacks and after watching your interview Ari on KZbin with Jane Goodall I have a very near and dear opinion and takeaway of the subject at hand. Jane Goodall is just an international treasure and example and role model to all, men and woman alike. She portrays a reality where we are all interdependent and we are. Where we as humans rely on not only the mass industrialized farming of animals to eat and survive. But while we destroy the animal's spirits through these non free ranging mass producing farms that treat these sentient beings like machinery to produce nourishment to the over populated masses. How are these mass produced farm animals who are so poorly treated unlike the cherished riches as we see our family members we call pets. And how we are destroying the earth through deforestation and sending entire species into extinction. Juxtaposed to that, where as the deforestation happening throughout the world is destroying the habitats for our wild life for more land to farm and feed as well as build and house the exploding growth of the developed and developing world. A world already so over populated how are we to sustain life as we know it today for both man and wild life alike in generations to come. As Jane Goodall so affectionately discussed her love for all sentient beings as do I, and how we as a world society of people are supposed to not only coexist in harmony with animals both domestic and wild but, as grim as it sounds, how are we to maintain the sustenance to feed this globe at large.

They don't have Gorrilias in the Mist where I live because they will freeze to Death in Winter and be eaten by Wolves. I love Jane, but we need a Warmer not Colder Earth here. Local Conditions matter. We don't have a one size fits all World. If Jane ever wants to see ravenous Winter Wolf Packs, I'll be happy to give her a free look. Jane is bringing up Localism. Awesome! My State is highly Capitalist, it also has an awesome Natural Environment supported by a great team of Natural Resource Scientists funded by Hunting and Fishing licence Fees. I love Jane. We don't need it Colder here. Keep your paws off Earth's Thermostat. If you want it Colder move to North Dakota. By any measure the Natural Environment in this area is wonderful. The next Generation needs a Local not Global mindset. My local Natural Environment is extraordinary because we focus on taking care of it not other places. Localism is the new Globalism. Local + Local = Global. Clean your room

@@ajmeyers5661 I spend much time in the Wild so my language is geared more to sub Artic local environment. Wolves are real here. Hundreds of Wolf Packs. We don't need a Colder Earth. Many Species may go extinct here if Earth is made Colder such as the Snowy Owl which is now very common here likely because it's too Cold for them in Canada. Warmer, not Colder. Snowy Owl die of Starvation here because this area has different Prey Species than Canada. Making Earth Colder will only make it tougher on Northern Species which have a tough enough time getting through Winter without making it Colder. I appreciate Jane bringing up Localism pertaining to Climate Change. The conversation must mature if we want to preserve high species diversity particularly in most Vulnerable Cold areas of Earth. We need to lift Federal Ban on Wolf Hunting too. One small pack can slaughter a dozen Deer for fun when the snow gets deep. I am a witness. They don't even eat most of it. Wolves are out of control here. Maintaining Species Diversity is important. Wolves like snacking on Coyotes and Foxes. Coyote and Fox populations are way low compared to the 1990s when I used to hunt them in Winter. Now Wolves need hunting to bring Nature back to balance.

If you are brave enough to challenge your own beliefs in search of the truth, I recommend people who study these subjects as a career,... and Gutsick Gibbon, as reliable sources of information, rather than religious apologists who don't know what they are talking about as it isn't their area of specialty.
