I don't like how they have taken a lot of their SKY class suites and just made them wide open concept rooms with the main bed just open to the couch where your kids will be sleeping. Even the new Grand Suites suffer from it. Yes if you have real little kids it is no so bad, but with older Tweens or Teens there is absolutely no privacy for the adults to sleep. We sailed in a GS on the Symphony back in 2019 and LOVED the fact that our kids were walled off in another area. I don't want to have to drop $25K to get more privacy in a suite level room. Yes I know the surf-side family suites offer separate areas but our family prefers to have an ocean facing balcony in our room and don't need to hear all the noises that surf-side will bring. What we loved about the GS on the Symphony is that we could use our room as a place to relax on the balcony and not hear or see all the activities on the ship.

I just made our reservation on the Icon of the Seas for early 2024. We were not able to choose our Ocean View Balcony Cabin. Not sure what this is all about, we've always been able to select our cabin at the time of making the reservation. I called today, the lady said cabins would be assigned a month or so before departure date! I'm not too happy with this!

Sounds like you booked a guarantee cabin and it a cabin assignment. Reach out to your Harr Travel advisor and they can help you pick the right one for you

@@HarrTravel Yes we figured it out last night. Called and upgraded to a lrg balcony cabin and selected from what was left. This is our 5th cruise, 2nd on Royal Caribbean, first time we had heard of the "guaranteed cabin" deal.

For the sky class suites, are you able to have dinners in your room at the tables? I’ve never understood how everything works for sky class with dining in room

You can on the Oasis class ships so I assume it will be the same here. You have to call room service to order but you can order from the MDR menu and they will bring it to your room.

@@brettgordon9697 no problem! We literally just got off the Oasis yesterday and my daughter was super tired the last night so we ordered MDR to the room and it was fantastic. I will say only certain ones of the suites have the dining table on the balcony. We were in a Crown Loft and there is not a balcony table but there is a large table in the room that is very usable for dining.

Go to RC website and book. Let's just say the first year the suites are VERY expensive once you venture past Junior and Surf side suites. Sure I'll drop $25K on a vacation. 🙃

I agree with you. 7600 passengers are simply too many to manage. On the Queen Mary 2, this has worked without any problems for almost 20 years, but there is much more space and many fewer passengers.

We sailed a suite on the Symphony in 2019 and outside of getting front row seats at shows and the coastal kitchen most people didn't even know what class you were sailing. It's not like non-suites can't use the pools or almost all the other things on the ship.

Hasn't happened yet. If anything, RC is too egalitarian when it comes to treating the people who spend the big $$$ on suites the same as the people who don't. The people who spend the real money still often have to fight crowds, deal with long waits for elevators and sit in line for the general food venues. The move to create a suite neighborhood beginning with Wonder of the Seas is a good step in the right direction, but woefully late (NCL has had this with The Haven for years, and MSC did something similar with the Yacht Club concept).

I agree 👍And a poor service ratio of 7600 passengers to 2650 crew, ports that can't be called at because of size, cabins with no privacy (especially those on Broadway), and probably interminable waits at the "attractions."
