I collect tools for fun. That's why I bought them. I am sure I'll find a use for them one day 😊

The Icon Duckbill pliers were ideal for removing springs on a Speed Queen washer. You have to reach straight down on the sides and back of the unit to unhook them. When I bought the pliers, I didn’t know what I would use them for. Very glad I bought them! Thanks, as always for making your videos!

I got mine a couple weeks ago. Like everyone else was saying at the time they weren't on display. They had to go into the back to get them plus I had a coupon. They are still sitting on my desk. lol

I have long reach straight version of these pliers from Laser, but not they are not these pistol types. They are great for accessing inside equipment to manipulate wires, saving a complete strip down. I will have a look around and se if these pistol style are available over here.

Long reach pliers will save you some time in a lot of situations. Often times in appliances.. and I’m sure vehicles.. like you said, 90 % of the fix is getting to whatever it is. They sometimes save you a lot of steps 👍

I just purchased a pair of Milwaukees new 13" needle nose pliers. Its funny because the foot long pliers fit in my tool bag. My thinking was you use needle nose for grabbing, so why not get the longest pair you can. I had accidentally purchased a pair with circular jaws at the end; the showing on HD shows them mainly automotive focused. These look like ones you'd grab for hose clamps, but I'm not a mechanic, so I don't know.
@MORGANSMaintenance

I can for sure see that mechanics would use these the most. I’m interested in those Milwaukee ones myself.

I've had my eye on the snap-on version of these for years, but like nearly all of their tools, I just can't justify the price they are asking. I'll 100% be picking up a pair next time I'm at HF. I'll probably wait until the slipjoint needle nose come out though, so I can get both. ;)
@MORGANSMaintenance

Me either. I wouldn’t spend $100 each on these…. I think those slip joints will be hard to get your hands on. Everyone wants them 😂

While I appreciate the research and development snap-on puts into their tools, there's only one use case where snap-on makes sense: if you're a mechanic. There is something to be said about the truck coming to your shop once a week, and dealing with any issues that arise. Whatever tools you're going to need on hand, you don't have to go out and find them, they drive to your door. You're not paying for the tool, you're paying for the truck. That said I feel like harbor freight could totally add a truck, and sweep the floor with snap on.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Жыл бұрын
I get it too… if you are super busy, work a ton of hours, and the store comes to you in a truck… with a warranty… it still makes sense for some. Add to that the payment plans, or that some don’t even have time to go out looking for other options. You see new tools on this truck that will make your job better, you might think there aren’t alternatives out there. I can see that being the route you go. With being able to order stuff from all over now and see options online has to have put a wrinkle in the truck game…

I agree with last best tools picked up the screw extraction pliers and the hf are just ok... I wouldn't spend 95 on snappn so I can't complain about the $20 but the teeth don't grip/or as hard as engineer knipex or Taiwan fujima korokin. That said it's more or less a fun toy for just the right situation.

What do you mean by "I already have"? That's not the way this game is meant to be played :) BTW, we are better at inventing problems requiring yet another new tool than teleshopping channels.
@MORGANSMaintenance

I’ve had so much practice justifying my purchases to my wife that I can come up with a reason for needing any tool. (Even though she could care less, I still feel like I have to do it) If the “already have” is about watched many videos…After I’ve watched 10 videos on a tool and buy it, I catch myself saying I don’t need to make a video for it. I assume everyone has already watched some of those… but maybe people don’t watch the same as me I guess. If the “already have” was about the Pipe Wrench (which is what I thought you were talking about) It was hard to talk myself out of that pipe wrench, but I’m proud of myself 😂 I knew I had a 17” Knipex… so I would never grab that one over it… but now I’m thinking.. “what if I need two?” 😂
