I love my GameCube but collecting for it in 2020 is tricky because a lot of the games have retained their value. That being said, F-Zero GX is one of the greatest racing games of all time and I still play it every once in a while, and that GB player rules. Pretty much all of the first party Nintendo stuff is of the kind of quality you'd expect on the GC except Super Mario Sunshine, which I felt was too fetch-quest-y for a Mario game. This video really makes me want to look into the third party games that are out there. I already have Smash, Animal Crossing, Zelda, Mario Cart, Star Fox, a lot of the first party expensive stuff, so I'd be down for a decent X-Men game or that Capcom Vs. SNK. Great video, Reggie. Made me think about my GC collection, which I haven't thought about in a while.

I love the GameCube, it was my first home console (though technically my brother received it for Christmas). I loved how it got pretty much 99% of all the third party multiplats despite not selling well, something the Switch still doesn't always get despite being super successful.

Solid collection. That's like your Resident Evil machine. I ended up rebuying all the RE games on Switch I just wish they made physicals. I only have the triple pack and the others as downloadables. I think they have a Triple pack for 4-6 and one for the original 3. I also got the Revelations game which I played and loved on 3DS, I still think it has the best graphics of any 3DS game to this day and it was really close to launch. Capcom just has their stuff together with understanding system limitations and how to get the most of of systems at launch. I just beat Castlevania Circle of the Moon tonight which was a GBA launch title and I really liked it. A lot of people don't care for the GBA Castlevania games besides Aria of Sorrow which led the way for the DS gems. I got the Castlevania Advance Collection (Also wish they made a physical for it) and decided in October I'd try to beat all 3. It's November 5, 2021 and I only beat Circle of the Moon but I liked it so much and the games get better with each GBA title so I'm starting Harmony of Dissonance next and then saving Aria of Sorrow for last. I'll probably skip the Dracula X SNES game on there though its a nice but random bonus game. I would have rather had a different SNES or other Castlevania. I've been on a real Castlevania and Metroidvania kick in all of 2021 also beating all the Bloodstained Games from the original 2 but I haven't even broken the seal on Bloodstained Ritual of the Night yet which I am so glad they made a physical copy for although without the patches I hear it's rough. With the patches I think it will be fine. I would be elated if they brought Symphony of the Moon to Nintendo Switch but right now I have it for iPhone and I don't even play mobile games. I just saw it when browsing and wanted to have a few games on my phone in case I ever get bored somewhere and don't have my Switch. Also got Chrono Trigger for my phone though the DS version is currently my favorite.

I really want to play Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes Remake. I've played all the main MGS except that one. They released Resident Evil Remake on PS4, but not Twin Snakes. I remember getting a Gamecube a few years after PS2 & I played RE4 & Sonic Adventure 2, but for whatever reason, I did not play remake as a kid. Really glad I got the chance to when it got re-released. RE1 remake has become one of my favorite games of all time! I never thought it would get an HD version due to its exclusiveness. Maybe there is hope for Twin Snakes? It would have made the HD collection more complete.

The GameCube Nintendo is a very underrated system. Till this day, I still can’t fanthom why the system has not sold more units. The only thing really missing was the DVD functionality, but can we really say that it was missing a feature that had no influence on games and gameplay? The fact that the system could handle 8 texture passes when the XBOX could only handle 6 and I believe the PS2 could do either four or two, was pretty big at that time. The “issue” with game data storage was remedied with having the game on multiple disk. The d-pad was something that came up, because some fans did not like that the d-pad was small. That, I can understand. I love the GCN and to me, it is right up there with the Super Nintendo and Nintendo Switch ad far as Nintendo’s greatest home consoles created.
@jd.h19664 жыл бұрын
Many things played against Nintendo, their policies and stubbornness was biting them in the ass, when 64 arrived they lost so many 3rd party support cuz of the cartridge thing and their ego rose up so high the came late to the party desperately with the gamecube PS2 was already in the market like 2 years ahead of Nintendo so Sony had the greater advantage and since Sony was practically the saviour of game developers 3rd party was heavy on their side, almost no restrictions on games And yes, sadly the DVD thing was important, cuz gaming wasn't that popular back in the day, in fact those hundreds millions of units sold were not actually gamers but casual consumers who just wanted a cheap DVD player and if you had children then why not also a gaming thing for them to be distracted, 2 in 1 bam
