I was first introduced to Ayu's Quallys Nusantara through iChang and Jimmy. Like you guys, Ayu invited them to a private dinner and if I remember correctly, she also cooked for them satay, beef brisket, etc. So when this was recommended to me, I clicked the Like button before watching the video (which is needless to say, very well done!) coz I knew it would be a treat (see what I did there 😉). iChang and Jimmy have ranked her food in 1st place in their top 3, I can't wait to see what yours is going to be.

She's so organized & she prioritizes cleanliness. Not afraid to use A LOT of water to clean the ingredients and just like me I clean up everything (the pots, utensils...) in between cooking too! Messy kitchen makes me dizzy and when Im dizzy my cookings lacks love & honesty. Keep it up sis!

Wow, you both just experienced what I'd say the most authentic Malay cuisine experience ever! It was definitely heavenly since it was home cooking and we all can see the cooking came from Kak Ayu's pure authentic heart! This is why us Malaysians really take pride in our cooking since we know our food is just heavenly and unbeatable. We know and love these rich flavours deep within our soul. 7:12 it's from asam gelugor, garcinia atrovirdis, or tamarind slices. It's not from tamarind tree, but the sourness resemble like tamarind.

I believe Nusantara will be something along the likes of Putrajaya where everything will be planned from the ground up. The new city will be an oasis or Shangri La of sorts situated centrally in the humid jungles of that large island.

I have never tried Kak Ayu food but i think its a lost art. Every grandmothers back in the old days cooks like that, but these days very few Malaysians can do the same. The food back then was at another level. Preparation was longer, the cooking was slower, nobody has time these days. My grandmother would actually make her own chilli and curry powder, from scratch. Takes almost 4 hours to make a curry dish.

Hey Jaq! Geoff always likes snails, he was eating them in spain too (land ones, not water snails like these.) I (Angela) am a bit more squeamish about the snails, but I actually ate a lot of these ones. I think it's mostly about the sauce that they're in, and this one was spicy and delicious. Ayu makes everything taste wonderful.

I am by no means an expert on food and what is and what isn't deserving of a Michelin star. What I do know is that I consider myself to be well traveled and Kak Ayu's cooking is in the top 4 of the tastiest things I have eaten in my entire life. If you ask me they should give her all of the Michelin stars. As to eating with the hands, I am a little familiar with it having been to India, but I am very self conscious and feel like a fool doing it in front others that are so used to doing it. I make more of a mess than anything. lol

It is such terrible news. We spent 3 months in Turkey last year and fell in love with the country and the people. Our hearts are with Turkey

HI Keang, it's Angela. I usually don't like snails either. We made a video in Malaga Spain where I eat snails and you can see me not impressed. But Ayu's sauce is so delicious that I ate dozens of these ones!
