Thing is Messi may be the best player of all time but he's not so far above the rest that I'd take him over a defence, midfield or frontline stacked with legendary players. Like I'd take a frontline of prime Henry, R9 and Mbappe over Messi and 2 mediocre players, even if Messi is the best player of all time.

Done these drafts with my friends multiple times and from personal experience the best strat is to prioritze the fullbacks 1st, then centre backs, then the goalie. From there it's gg. Most well known world class players are midfielders, wingers and strikers. Your memory will struggle if you start picking from strikers and work your way down to the back.
