Could also be titled "Medieval Jesus Representations as Proof of Einsteins Relativity Theory". Since the beginning of the Industrial Age, the function of ART is the OPPOSITE of SCIENCE, but Art has had various cultural functions throughout the development of mankind, .... big deal. Jackson Pollock said, "Theories are after the fact" ... the FACT being the Artwork. Andy Warhol used the word "intellectual" as an insult, ... meaning some vain, idiot who considers himself a genius (as 99% of "the Art World" are). Academia professional "intellectuals" earn their money by talking incessantly and mostly incoherently with as many words as possible about simple things. An artist can explain complicated subjects in an understandable simple manner, whereby intellectuals "explain" simple subjects in 5000 page obscure manuscripts (or hour long blah, blah, blah lectures). "Bildwissenschaft" (Visual Science) is a general analysis of Imagery. "Kunstgeschichte" (Art History) is a general analysis of Art. An "Illustration" is the visualization of a specific Text. If one's subject is the color "Blue" one could talk, for hours or years or decades, about "Sir Issac Newton's Refraction of Light"; "Mineral Pigments versus Synthetic Pigments"; "Art in the Age of the Industrialization"; "Early Renaissance Representations of the Virgin Mary"; "Indigofera Tinctoria in Antiquity"; "The Visual Impressions of Water and the Sky"; "The History of Levi Jeans"; "Phoenician Trade and Tyrian Dyes Throughout the Mediterranean in the 12th Century , B.C."; " 'TRUE BLUE', Madonna's Third Album on Sire Records"; "The Fender Colors of Mercedes Blue, Sonic Blue, and Lake Placid Blue on the Stratocaster Guitar"; "Pablo Picasso's Blue Period, 1901-04"; etc. etc. etc. ... SO WHAT! ART exists since tens of thousands of years BEFORE the disciplines of History and/or Science ... so when something called "Bildwissenschaft" (Visual Science) turns up, 40,000 years AFTER the artworks are there, I guess you can incorporate certain aspects, or as far as I care, the ENTIRETY of Art History into something called "Historical Visual Science" ... SO WHAT! I don't understand why people clap their hands after an hour and a half of being smothered by so much humorless, vacuous intellectual vanity, ... but looking at the faces, it seems everyone considers themselves just a bit more "intelligent" than the person sitting next to them ... or maybe this was a meeting of "The Society of Masochist Lecture Lovers" perhaps?
