If you are going to do it yourself - replace your screen/digitizer on an iPad 3 - this is the best video to watch. Yes - it is long - but a lot of the shorter ones skip over the detail really necessary. This is the best of many. Wished I had watched it before I started!
@randychambers79025 жыл бұрын
I wished I watched it as well. I learned in this video how important it is to remove battery-power to the LCD digitizer (and how easy it is!) BEFORE reconnecting to control board.

This was super helpful. My son used your video to fix my iPad. It took a long time but it was worth it. Thanks for posting the video. My iPad was shattered in many pieces so we placed packing tape on the center to keep as much of it from popping out and that helped. He also wore a long sleeve shirt after one of the piece of glass cut his arm a bit. You really need steady hands to do this work.

Can I put Ipad 3 screen on iPad 4?
@terryandmarcymorgan33653 жыл бұрын
To keep the broken glass chards under control I use some see-through shipping tape on the Ipad. This helped me in my repair/replacement of the screen/digitizer. Thanks for sharing this video.

Thanks for sharing your detailed directions and advice on iPad screen replacement that I successfully followed to the 'letter'. My screen replacement went reasonably well with the minor exception that my particular digitiser connection tab had white lines on top that did not disappear when inserted into the connector. After several attempts to push the connection tab deeper into the connector, with due consideration 'not to distort, the tab too much and measurement comparison with the original, I concluded that it was fully engaged, even though the lines remained visible. Clearly this fact must vary slightly according to the manufacturer of the replacement digitiser. The next issue arose prior to completely fitting the digitiser during testing for full function. My experience was that the digitiser did not appear to work consistently well, so I stripped the iPad down several times assuming the connection was suspect (as described above). In the end I decided I had nothing to lose by finishing off and completing the installation, I removed the inner screen protector, peeled off all adhesive strips and securely fitted the new screen only to find everything worked fine. I assume it's function must have been compromised by leaving the protector film in place. So now having heated up the screen rim I've left it under pressure overnight to ensure good seal and will test it further tomorrow. I reviewed several other video!s on the same topic and thought yours was the most comprehensive guide. Most don't mention disconnecting the battery that could be important as it would be easy to inadvertently catch the 'on' button when moving the iPad about in the process.

Very good and detailed presentation. You didn’t do a speedy Gonzalas, zip-sang,and a slam-dunk repair job. Question however. I have a 64gb Apple IPad. The model # is A1397 EMC2424. It’s white framed. Is what I have IPad 3? If so, I have a cracked screen that I have to replace. Also the touchscreen keyboard doesn’t fully operate. Adding to this, the home screen is locked and unable to rotate and I have no way of unlocking it.What and Where exactly can I buy a replacement part and how much will it cost? Lastly, will I loose any icons and books that are already stored in IPad? You seem to be an expert in this and also willing to be straight and honest. Thank you.

So that was a hell of a ride, but I finally did it in 2020 :). I used a regular hair dryer to heat up the edges and a small vacuum cleaner to deal with those small pieces of broken glass. The digitizer did not work in the first run, I solved the issue by rechecking the digitizer cable (white lines at it must be completely covered). Now it looks brand new and works like charm! This video was helpful! But for all beginners: it's definitely not what I would call an easy repair. It took me ages. Save your nerves and give it to the repair service of your choice.

Thanks for a great video. I've got an iPad 3 that had a smashed screen. Both glass and the screen. I've purchased a new screen, to see if the iPad charged and it started up as it should. Now I purchased new glass+digitizer. I've disconnected the battery connector while connecting the new digitizer. Connected all together, now it acts like it starts but now there is no longer a picture on the screen, just black. :( If I connect it to a pc, it recognizes the iPad. And if I try to just charge it, it acts like plugging it and out at almost the same time. U can hear that connect/disconnect sound from the iPad. Help! I probably did something wrong. Should I let it drain/discharge the batteries?

Anyway, thanks for the excellent video. Side note: the expression "go ahead" as in You can now go ahead and unscrew the screen, can always be left out with no change. You can just say "You can now unscrew the screen". I am a student of the English language and like to go ahead and analyze English as it changes over the decades. There is no right or wrong, just curiosity. Thanks again. I can now risk trying to fix my iPad with much more chance of success.

You definately do not go round the edge breaking glass like that on a screen that only has light cracks. he failed to use his heat gun correctly and should not have used a heat gun in the first place but a hot air station with precise tempretures and nozzle heads. plus if he had tapped the edges just after it was heated the tape would prevent all the broken glass from causing the mess that it did apart from that good video.

Why would iCracked have sent me a digitizer for an iPad 4 in my kit for an iPad 3. I am all the way to attaching the new digitizer and have found the one sent has an extra cable on the home button. After two days of calling and sending photos to support they are saying just install it and don’t worry about the extra cable. So strange and a bad experience. Now I will see if it works without an issue.
