SHINee's "Replay" isn't just nostalgic, it's legendary. And SHINee are legends. Every new rookie group in the industry has covered "Replay" at least once in their career -- including BTS -- and it's one of those songs that is pretty much compulsory for everyone to know and learn, even still today. The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***, Victoria from F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Noona neomu yeppeo is a term that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them. **** SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee. "Replay" actually came out in 2008 -- more than 13 years ago -- however, SM launched their new KZbin channel in 2011 and reuploaded all their older videos at that time. So all of their older MVs and content will have a 2011 date but, like "Replay," they actually may be from much earlier. "Replay" is literally considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because it's so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. And this is why SHINee are Icons. This song makes all the women swoon. You just witnessed baby SHINee and were already blown away, just imagine what it will be like as you go through their discography and MVs. They have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), several repackaged albums, a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 13+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups as trendsetters. This song was way ahead of its time when it first came out. SHINee are known for never being afraid to experiment with their style and sound in a song and for the fact that no two songs of theirs will EVER be the same even on the same album. SHINee are always setting trends, never following them. As SM's experimental boy group, NOTHING you hear from SHINee will ever sound the same, and, yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. So this shows just how talented even as teenagers SHINee were. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines you have to watch their live concert performances. Fun fact: SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular when they debuted. That's why Key and Minho are both rappers and how Taemin started out as a popper in dance. But as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag to pull of hip-hop, so right before their debut SM switched up their sound and style to something that fit them better and they came up with the signature classic SHINee R&B vocals they are now known for. I, for one, am so glad they debuted with their signature R&B style. I can't imagine the world if we never knew the amazing vocals and sound that is SHINee today. Things would be so different. So SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet the members are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than some members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc., which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. It just goes to show you why they are legends in the industry. When SHINee debuted Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew just turned 32 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one in the hat -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. Fell in love with SHINee when they went to ODG and were just the sweetest to the kids, especially Minho❤. Then I watched every variety show they were in to find out that they were a chaotic, hilarious, adorable bunch😍. When I searched their music, the first one I watched was SW4's Sherlock live performance. If you are going crazy over music videos? Their live performances will enchant you and blow your mind! First few seconds of Sherlock, I just fell in a rabbit hole. I could not believe I never knew SHINee before. Enjoy your SHINee journey, all 5 will wreck you but Onew will lock that door to SHINee World❤! Make sure you look for Nessum Dorma and Friend where he sings the longest note. So you went with my 3 suggestions. You: "the talent", "the vocals". Us: yes, honey (I'm channelling Key here). I have to tell you Ja, this is one of the best reaction videos I've seen. I screamed at you screaming at 7:55. Now you've sampled the SHINee magic. And you will also find out that they are the most hilarious, chaotic, warm hearted, caring, humble guys ever. So, Taemin you know. The others are: Onew, with the long note, yes you saw him on Sea Of Hope, seems to be your bias wrecker (for now!). SHINee is an amazing talented group, all of them are quality soloist and a force to recon when together. They have been delivering number one songs and performances since debut. I’ve been in love with their music since 2010 and I don’t see my admiration for them will fade any time soon. I will recomes you to react to their Lives and concerts, all their discography becomes amazing when they perform live, their energy and vocals make their music sooo amazing, things like that can not be felt in the recorded music.

Thank you for the fun reaction. I'm an OG Shinee fan, since their debut and Replay is in the list of my all time songs. It got me at the first word, "noona" 😅. And their vocals as a group, is unmatched in my opinion. Since you're amazed by their vocal talent, I hope you'll react to the studio version first, of Don't Let Me Go, followed by the live version. This is an unofficial subunit of 2 Shinee members, a superb vocal duet from Onew and Jonghyun. To appreciate their solo vocals, I suggest some: Onew Solo - Blue MV (from his album Voice) - Nessun Dorma Live Jonghyun Solo - Y Si Fuera Ella (live) - Crazy MV - She Is MV Key - Bad Love MV - Helium audio version & stage performance Both songs have the 80s early 90s feel Minho - Heartbreak MV - Home MV He's a rapper, so it's interesting to watch a rapper sings with very little rapping Taemin. SHINee are known as one of the best vocal groups in the whole Kpop industry. They are legends for their live vocals and amazing dancing. The ONLY thing SHINee is not good at is lip syncing, so they have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing these intense choreographies. It may be shocking because they sound so flawless even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are such legends and why they are so highly respected in the industry. SHINee are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. It is a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when SHINee are lip syncing because they are so bad at it, that is why they avoid it at all costs. So when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live. (If you ask any of the members, what is something you are not good at? One of the very first things they will say is, "I am horrible at lip syncing." -- I have heard the members say this multiple times with my own ears.) Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is live vocals. Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed SHINee performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful. I guarantee, that if you were to listen to them singing a cappella while performing some of their most intense choreographies, they would sound just as flawless. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive. When SHINee debuted they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee was the group that changed the industry and proved that if you wanted to compete you needed to up your game. SHINee live is unmatched and it's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate. You really need to check out some of their live concert performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. Nothing compares to SHINee live. Their MVs are good, but those same songs sung live in concert are on a whole other level. SHINee are so influential that the industry looks to them to show everyone what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in.
