If I ever had to live in an expencive city cause of work and not wanting to comute, this is exactly what I would do. I would get a morgage and buy a small apartmant, up to 75 sq feet (way to small to be as expencive as the ones that are 100 - 200 sq feet) and modular furniture. All I need is a funcioning kitchen with one burner, wet room (toilet and shower together) since I would use a kitchen sink, a murphy bed and a lots of storidge room. Great ideas, thank you guys! And thank you for listing where you can buy this amazing products!

Granted, I don't know the prices. But most of these look like "You don't have a lot of space, meaning you likely don't have a lot of money. So spend hundreds if not thousands on our furniture!" I hope I'm wrong about that one... >.>;

I think this is perfect for expensive places like new work, London. Even if you are a high earner space is super expensive and thousands in furniture is nothing.

In many big cities in Europe, it's quite common to buy a small apartment in the city that would cost even higher than a super large house outside the city. It's because we value our time. And we like living in a lively area that's full of restaurants and shops better than a dead-quiet suburb that would require us to commute for everything. It's the choice than me & my partner made and while during corona we did wonder if we made the right choice (location was irrelevant when you were spending the entire day in the house), we have no regrets. And I would gladly pay an extra 5-10% of the house value to customize it and use the space more efficiently.

I have seen things like bookshelves that turn into tables etc. before. The problem that is never addressed is, OK, fine, you have a bookshelf, right? What's it doing for you? Just sitting there up against the wall? No. It's full of books, knick-knacks, junk, etc. STUFF that you have to MOVE and PUT SOMEWHERE ELSE in order to convert the thing into a table. For some odd reason they never show people scrambling around their apartment trying to find a new place for all that stuff so they can have a table instead of a bookshelf.
@cucabueno6 ай бұрын
not necessarily - depending on the height of the items on the shelf you may be able to just leave it there and slide the shelfs down towards the table setting. in my case, i'd mostly keep on the shelfs items that i'd want to use on the table (journals, pens, ruler, calendar, etc).
@uncaboat23996 ай бұрын
@@cucabueno Well, that's still going to be a problem, considering you're probably converting it into a table in order to *eat* there, and where are you going to put your plates and silverware with all that Bookshelf Stuff still sitting there taking up space?
@cucabueno6 ай бұрын
@@uncaboat2399 Maybe it doesn't fit that use case. I'd want to keep a journal, a pen, a book or two, maybe a ruler, and wouldn't need to move any of it.

I like some of these designs and ideas. My only concern is with beds; they can definitely be used to hit someone hard in the head. Especially those kid's beds... I've been hit by a falling mattress as a kid before, I can't even imagine being hit by something hard and just as large. Similarly, wouldn't they be heavy to lift? If not, then they're light, but wouldn't they be less durable?

People already told everything about folding shelves-table. It may have a scenarios though, if you use it for yourself, you can keep table items and fold it to shelves to free space, then return back to table. Not that you have a friend and empty shelves to have a dinner. In that case better have table which folds into a wall, it will have more free space in folded space and the same functionality - it is empty when folded. About murphy beds. The concept is cool, but... If you will sleep on them regularly you will need to store somewhere all the sheets or it will not be too compact. Also you can't fold it immediately after sleep, as it is wet. And so you will not be able to use table immediately. Or you will have mold in your bed. And that bed which you can turn around, it takes a lot of space, as you need space to allow it to turn. Better have stationary bed instead that complex mechanics. The folding armchair is strange. It does not have legs, and it will just wipe your floor. Also how you would clean that up? More like a rich man's item. Expensive strange and unusable. = ) All in all 90% of the video is ads for India company? = ) We understood that you can have a foldable bed, thank you. = ) The concept with shelves to table conversion is nice, though it have different scenario than showed on video. It is more like, you keep you notebook and papers, which folds from table to shelves to have your yoga for example on a work break. But it may be not so easy to fold. And what if you do something wrong and everything will collapse? Metal bars + sawdust panels are heavy. Comparing to just one sawdust panel which folds down as a classic folding table solution.

Running review of each item: 1. pull out desk: useful, but the essential problem is managing desk space where it doesn't become storage... so you never fold up the extension. For office/hobby stuff, that's isn't an easy guarantee like it is for a folding bed or dining room table. 2. fold out 2 seater table/cupboard: Isn't suitable for a picnic solution due to the styling (& probably not weatherproof), but would be a good option for a space constrained kitchen! 3. Multistool: Just great, only problem is remembering how to put it back together LOL. They could probably improve the design by embossing letters/symbols into the upholstery as built in reminders 4. Shelf/Table: OK, this is just stupid. Shelves are for storage... that's what shelves are. In order to convert it back & forth you'll need to CLEAR the shelves before you bring it down... which is just extra work & then you need a staging area to put the contents of the shelves; exacerbating space management issues. 0 out of 10, NOT a 'smart design' 5 & 6. Foldable sofa/armchair: Just great, super durable. Doubles as a futon 7. Swivel out TV entertainment center: Suspicious lack of cabling shown going to the TV. Good concept, but that is kind of telling. Makes me think it was designed by people who don't actually use a TV for anything, & isn't actually practical 8. OTHER swivel out TV entertainment center: MUCH better, and kind of highlights my point re: #7. This thing is all about the cable management, that's how critical cable management is... so WTH is it with #7? One issue though with #8 is the design locks you into a port selection... which means it might become obsolete over time as tech standards change (which they very much do... we've gone thru 5 or 6 different TV connector options since I was a kid in the 90s) #9 sliding furniture thing: good concept, would like to clarify if the thing is actually usable as steps, as the design seems to heavily imply #10 various stuff from the company Clee: desk is meh... just a standard folding desk. Folding table+shelves, same concern as #1... you have to be disciplined about keeping the table mode clear to get the space savings. Combined entertainment/table/bed unit is a bit more interesting... although it's geared towards basically folks who want a guest room option... since most folks want to lie in bed & watch TV, which makes it undesirable as a primary sleeping arrangement. The Murphey bed ironically takes up more space with the attached sofa bits than a traditional Murphey... so calling that one a fail #11 Invisible Bed Products: Folding dining table/cabinet is great. Murphey beds actually think about saving space, unlike the Clee products. Note how the adult version doesn't take up additional floorspace beyond the footprint of the bed. Folding desks again have the issue where habits have to be adjusted to use them... and this is particularly of note with the Murphey bed combo, since if you have in-progress stuff going on the desks it means you literally don't have a bed to use. Master bedroom setup though is just great
