I’d like the idea of these bikes, but from a law-enforcement point of view I can see them getting stolen. You go shopping and come back and find it gone. Is it worth investing money on something that is so vulnerable to theft? It’s one thing to get a regular bike stolen but this costs way more than a regular bike.

There are plenty of ways you can lock these so they are harder to steal than a motorcycle, but the bigger problem is going to be that thieves are going to target these just because they THINK it's going to be easier, and even when they realize it's going to be more difficult than they thought, for less reward than just stealing a motorcycle, their stubbornness will cause them to still hyperfixate on stealing it because they've already started, so they'll get their power tools, cut through the U-locks, and steal it.

Several inaccurate details and assumptions about a few of the entries here, which have been repacked and regurgitated since at least 2019. - The Velove Armadillo with the "soft shell" body never made it past the prototype stage in 2019. The white one in the video, and several blue ones that were tested in Sweden are all that remain. There are no plans to produce this 'velomobile', or 'cabin cycle', version. Velove has gone completely commercial in using the Armadillo as cargo transport, not personal transport. - The Cabriovelo project died sadly died off in 2016-2017 after failure to get funded. - The Velo X was built only for breaking speed records, (which it did) but was never intended to be commercially produced as personal transport. Plus it takes like 15-20 minutes to get inside it, and takes a team of 2-3 people to help you push start and stop it. Oh, and there are no windows or places to carry things, like groceries. :P

you can probably get a 40mph 1500w 48v front wheel kit and a 48v 20ah 40mile battery for under $500. you can get a solar charger for it under $1k. people are making this more complicated than it actually is

None of those would not be suitable for subtropical climates like Florida. Not with temps of 85 to 95 with heat indexes up to 110. I've been in Central Florida for 8 years and I have yet to see people on bikes. Not that don't exist, but no one rides them during daylight hours. That's for sure. The only way those enclosed bikes would be used in places like Florida or the Desert States is if one of those bike design geniuses built a mini a/c unit for them.

A standard E-bike costs from around 2 to 3 thousand Euro's, so how much will one of these tricycles be, probably not affordable for the normal working people with average wages. I like the idea and even if I could afford one, where would you park it if you don't own your place.

These vehicles take to much space on the bike lane (if any at all) They are to slow to merge into any incoming traffic They are not safe in case of collision You can’t park it anywhere, they are to big for a bike spot and to small for a car spot These vehicle have a footprint of a car with the speed and safety of a bike You can’t take these vehicles on mountain gnarly trails If you don’t have a garage you can’t take it up the 3rd floor like a bike

All nice idea but I see 2 issues here: 1. They are too low from the ground hence the visibility in a road (with cars around) is highly compromised. 2. They are not fully enclosed and waterproof so they are only for nice weather conditions...

CityQ needs better suspension and a somewhat sturdier frame. Velove Armadillo has a solid base, but the cabin is laughable. All others are...questionable.
