I really like your technical approach, just understandable too by the lay person. You see things with another approach (not only the CHIP but the revision, too) which makes it more interesting to watch! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for another quality video. I am always amazed at all the little intricacies of PCIe, ports, and performance that you come across. Like today I wouldn't think to use the TB3 port for a USB-c enclosure but your testing showed up to a 10% improvement in throughput. Great stuff. I wonder if you could do a test between TB3 and TB4 (USB4?) In the future. Ryzen 7000 sounds like it has some interesting chipsets.

Hi Devin, Appreciate Your Comments! We try! Agreed! And We expect everything to just work without knowing the what, why and how of things! Fascinating, right! Thank You! Those Details matter! Especially when something does not work! A Test between Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4, great idea! Right now, these new Chipsets coming online, We all need to study them a bit when We can get into the documentation and see if We're being sold another bill of goods or if the real deal is in the Specs! Yes, Chipsets rule! Beyond design to implementation! That's what matters most! What are We told and what are We sold. Not always the same. And that goes to expectations. We're eager to dive into all of that!

I'm looking for the best M.2 enclosure for the 22110 length drives. Would you recommend something ? Samsung 22110 drives tend to run hot so cooling needs to be good. Thanks for the reply. BTW amazing review...very detailed and informative.

Hi Piotr K, Welcome! Server Components. Interesting choice in M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drives. This a Test and Verify Question since all in a smaller scale are Designed for Consumer markets. And as such have the Heatsink backwards. In otherwords towards the Backside of an M.2 instead of focusing on the Frontside. Thunderbolt can really warm up an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drive through sustained Throughput. These Thunderbolt Enclosures are best at Burst mode. Devices Designed for Throughput usage are more professional products such as 2 possible products and different iterations as listed below. 1. iodyne.com Pro Data Thunderbolt 3 M.2 NVMe Storage. We have a Video about that Product before it became available. iodyne.com/ 2. Blackmagic Cloud Store scales up to 80TB of M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Storage! Blackmagic Design 8TB Cloud Store Mini (4 x 2TB) Bundle with Pearstone 6' HDMI Cable with Ethernet and 10-Pack Straps amzn.to/3n9TbQQ 3. Blackmagic Design Blackmagic Cloud Store 20TB amzn.to/42qMj1y 4. Blackmagic Design Blackmagic Cloud Store 80TB amzn.to/42wktRI As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases. These types of Devices are Designed for Throughput. Back to Your Question, these are all 2280 not 22110. These are the types of Devices required to Dissipate Heat to maximize Throughput. You want something small and portable for 2210. Understand. That will require time to Test and Verify what's available since the smaller Devices are optimized for a price point. This starts with possibility thinking! We expect better Designs once the new Thunderbolt Chipset is released not made by Intel. Instead, from ASMedia. ASMedia Desiged the AMD X670E Dual chip Chipset! In the mean time... Hope this helps!

Hello, can you also please test the RaidSonic Icy Box IB-1916M-C32? It's USB 3.2 2x2 (20G) which means it should be able to do 2.5GB/s.

Question regarding Video Ram Memory. When you add additional monitors to your setup, does the amount of Video Memory required increase ? For example if you have 3 4K monitors, with the amount of Video Ram needed increase to where all 3 monitors will utilize the available VRAM equally ? For example if you had an RTX 3090 or RTX A5000 which both have 24GB of VRAM, will the GPU use 8GB of VRAM per monitor ? Is this how it works or does it work differently ? Do you know if the configuration of the 3 monitors matters in this regard ? The RTX A5000 data sheet states that the maximum resolution is as follows : 4x 4096 x 2160 @ 120 Hz, 4x 5120 x 2880 @ 60 Hz, 2x 7680 x 4320 @ 60 Hz .... One application that I come across where the question was raised is with the requirements for the newest Flight Simulator to be played at maximum settings, with multiple higher resolution monitors in a more realistic setup, ( controls, and all ), though I know the CPU is also relevant with this software. This question would also apply to Video editing interfaces, CGI, and Rendering sofware as well. Thanks

Hi Shannon Bailey, Long time since We've hear from You! Great Question! Has not been too long ago when We were asking, How many Monitors can We connect to the Video card going from 4 to 6 and now back to 4! Never thought about the GPU doing Rendering to Video then. The Video card was Rendering to the Monitor. And not so long ago from Single Sync to Multi Sync to Screen Tear and Refresh Rates then color bit depth, etc. Catch the Rainbow! Therefor to Your Question, How much Video RAM do We need per Monitor? 2 to 4 GBs should suffice at 1080. 8 to 16 GBs per Monitor at 4k; 8k - 16 to 32 GBs, etc. Depends. Video Walls are driven with less but response time is also diminished. Driving a Display vs Rendering Video. Interesting thought We have left behind! That would make an interesting Video but would require GPUs with those limited Resources! And that's a step backwards! My Point, in Building a Purpose Built Computer for Rendering, the Display benefits as well! Synergy. Hope that helps! I'm sure someone else will chime in on this. This is another Test and Verify Experience!

just for info : i discovered that Win 11 have a better use of memory for cache for transfer file between computer / enclosure , you see 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 go of memory use in win 11 , not in win 10

Question...Seagate firecuda 530 v 980 pro...is there a REAL difference between them as they've both 7k speed with same warranty etc....?
@BuildOrBuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike Quinton, Great Question! Depends upon Perspective and Perception. This would make for an interesting Video! If We Listed 5 Items and changed anything in the prioritization of said List, that would change everything! Just like picking a Motherboard, We should look to the Chipset. In doing so, the Phison E18 Controller according to both AMD and Phison. That would be on the Seagate FireCuda 530 of 3 as outlined by Phison of those using that M.2 NVMe Controller when it was released. We have a Video about that topic. Seagate FireCuda 530 amzn.to/3lHRBBA As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. News Flash - AMD Phison AMD Ryzen Master Optimization kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5ykqmuZnJ2cbM0 Personally, both are fine. We have more experience with Samsung on M.2 than any other Brand. Chipset, Speed, Price, in that Order. Specs matter more than Brand. Everyone with an M.2 anything is new. And as You've pointed out, warranties are all very much the same in comparison. At the rate We're moving through Upgrades, We'll all Upgrade an M.2 NVMe PCIe Drive long before We wear one out due to capacity and speed. Hope that helps!

For a Mac there are 3 Options for File Format, APFS, OS Extended (Journaled) format or ExFAT. If using also with a PC, ExFAT would be the perfect choice. Hope that helps!
