This game is fairly lulzy. GeneralSam had a rather hilarious video of the multiplayer aspect of it. Definitely an apt name for it though. Being stuck in a jungle would be the worst. I've watched a decent amount of Naked and Afraid and from that, jungles would be the last place I'd want to get stuck at, followed very closely by arctic type places.

Mia and Jake Higgins found the indigenous Yabahuaca tribe of this unknown jungle (possibly Brazilian or Amazonian), then return and Jake writes a book about them. Eventually, Mia gets cancer, and as a last resort, they attempt to reach out to the Yabahuaca tribe again, to gain a cure from their medicinal practices. The Omulu corps finds out about this cure, and develop a pharmaceutical cure-all that's so effective it supposedly just passes through all phases of testing. They create several groundbreaking profits, but their ethics are constantly questioned, with the exploitation and exposure of an indigenous tribe (which led to their genocide), the anxiety and dangers of a sudden and overpromising drug coming into the market, and the eventual result that this miracle drug caused a virus to spread and make people to go into coma and die, despite being a cure to cancer. This is the prequel and its ending. The main story is Jake heading back into the jungle with a new team, trying to find a cure for the virus, ironically over the same reasons and worries about Mia's health. During which time, Jake was slowly losing his mind, in both guilt and worry about his wife, as well as her constant calls for help for Jake to return by her side in her last moments. Eventually, Jake must have lost his mind, and fabricated a scenario in which Mia called for his help while in the village, but when he went there he got chased away and slipped down a cliff. From where, he repeats the entirety of the game over and over again, constantly regaining his memory, trying to find a cure for the virus he created, and surviving in the jungle. The tutorial is a reenactment of the second time Jake and Mia went into that jungle. His insanity fabricated scenarios that combine both events from their second trip and voice messages that his wife left behind when she was hospitalized by the virus. That's why, if you find it, the original tent is empty and have overgrowth, the Yabahuaca tribe is no where to be found, and, when you call for help in the radio at the air strip, the person answering talks as if it's not the first time that Jake has called for help.

Not really. It has a pretty deep and rather dark storyline. It's just the player here downplayed it off and sped through most of it. They even got the "Bad Ending" in the end. . SPOILERS AHEAD Basically, Green Hell starts off with you going into the Amazon with your wife. You wrote a book about some of the local tribes and their practices and it led to some issues so your wife is going to try and help smooth things over with them. She ends up going missing and you are tasked with trying to find her so you two can escape the jungle. As the story plays out, you learn that there were two sides of the tribe: the ones who were willing to share their knowledge with you and those who felt their knowledge should remain secret. You had wrote a book with that knowledge and it resulted in a bunch of doctors/scientists wanting to visit and study the tribe to learn more. This ultimately led to some sort of pandemic that is currently killing off thousands of people in the country. This also led to further rifts in the tribe with the ones who were apposed to sharing their knowledge with outsiders killing off the rest of the tribe who had agreed to share with outsiders. You learn that your initial visit was to help find a cure for your wife's terminal illness but instead, not only did you not do that, you essentially was the cause of the downfall of most of the tribe along with helping kickstart a pandemic in the country...and your wife is actually dead. So the reason of this second visit that you playthrough now is an attempt to finish your research to find a cure for the pandemic in honor of your wife. The moments you have of her in the game is actually just your guilt you felt for being the cause of soo much suffering. In the end, you can find the cure and ultimately get it back to civilization so it can be mass produced, or you fail to find the cure and you end up dying after what I assume is you killing yourself by jumping off a cliff because you cannot handle the guilt of your actions anymore.
