The 103 dial is a masterclass in typography, the dial is busy, and yet clean and perfectly balanced with none of the visible numbers clipped by the sub dials. The spacing between elements is neat and consistent. Finally, as one can only expect from Sinn - a pilots watch, yet built well enough to be water resistant to 200m.

Man that 103 is class. I honestly thought it was going to be such an overpriced model before doing a bit of research for this video. That Automatik script sells it every time... and WR with these machines... brands should really be taking notice!

My ST104 I one of my favorite pieces. While not the most expensive piece in my collection by far, it’s design and wearability is up there with my higher end watches. Sinn design on every level punches so far above their price point.

And this is basically the synopsis of the video in a few words ;) It blows me away how price is virtually irrelevant with this brand and even the cheapest offerings from them receive the same attention AND just how diverse the selection is? It's superb. The 104 with full arabics (my dream) such a charmer. Sinn needs way more love. Thanks for taking the time to watch the clip Steve!

Ah! You’re definitely on to one of my favorite brands of watches! Sinn just really gets right so many things that I appreciate in watches. For me, the U1, U50, and UX are my top choices. Brutalist, Minimalist, and yet such precision and quality throughout their designs. I think they are what Rolex was perhaps 60 or 70 years ago. Great video 🥃

Thanks for putting Sinn on the map for me. I've seen these watches on other channels, but I saw no real argument for their distinctiveness. Now I find them much more interesting. I admit that having day and date complications is awfully convenient. I was wearing my Orient Kamasu (red dial) to a professional conference where I did not want to be too flashy or wear something expensive, and I realized the value of these complications. Oddly, they seem less valuable in familiar circumstances PS: This Orient turns out to be flashier than I remembered, especially in brilliant sunshine.

Oh yes, one of my favourite cult brands, I have had a 556i for over a year now and used it traveling with a tropical navy strap and with the bracelet. With a top grade Sellita SW200 that has been regulated in house by Sinn to be within COSC tolerances its such good value for money and I have had many compliments about the look of my watch as they love the look. At an affordable price-point, the 356 chrono is a fantastic design - outdoing bloated modern IWC for a fraction of the price. Love Sinn. My first quality timepiece was an 856 UTC S and it will always be with me. In the category you created, for me, It’s a toss up between the 103 and the EZM 3F. Both amazing for different reasons. I nearly pulled the trigger on the new 1.1, but after having a coated watch case for some time, the ultimate slight removal of the black coating due to scratches stopped me. Scratches themselves don’t bother me, but I’ve come to realize that bare metal showing through the black coating does. 🤷🏻♂️ If I was a special forces or SWAT team member it would be fine, but I’m just a collector 😂. Still, brilliant, tough, precise tools.

Sinn is one of the few brands in the market that is positioned perfectly for its core audience. From its distinctly muted utilitarian design, rugged specs, to its fair pricing, Sinn has you covered. As Sinn was founded fairly recently, it doesn’t have the heritage of other similar German brands like Stowa, Laco, and Hanhart, but it also doesn’t have the baggage that comes with it. Sinn doesn’t have to live in the shadow of famous references, or WW2 associations, and can be nimble enough to dramatically iterate existing model families, and create entirely new models that actually sell, without causing purists to cry foul. This is a remarkably enviable market position for Sinn. Here’s another tidbit. I was talking to a group of about 5-6 non-watch enthusiasts recently who were just getting into the market for watches. They talked mostly about Omega, Hamilton, Seiko, and Sinn. It was a small sample size, to be fair, but the brand awareness of Sinn appears to be on the rise. Considering I own 4 Sinn’s, it shouldn’t have shocked the hell out of me, but it did.

@@ID-Guy I will have to revisit the Sinn line of watches, I am not far from germany, just a 2 hours drive dresden. I was looking at a watch shop in germany that sells Sinn watches. Would have to call to see if they had a specific model. They do look nice on a black strap or a nato. My crime fighting days are over, just an aging batman now. I hung up the cape and retired but at times i did miss the excitement. So when are you going to design your own watch. Cant wait to see it. Are you going to Basel next year?
@Hanger-132 жыл бұрын
@@ID-Guy I had an idea for the hoodies you sell on your website. Use some luminesent paint on the hours markers so they light up at night. That would be very cool.

Well, I feel left out, as the owner of a U2 with two time zones. What goes unmentioned is how well it fits with a normal strap, despite the 44 width. It is possibly the toughest GMT you can buy. Until Tudor releases a dual time Pelagos, it is unmatched.
@ID-Guy2 жыл бұрын
Love the design of the U2 and how the dial has been done (I was absolutely going to include it in the group if it wasn't for the "entry level" part) The legibility of these pieces is just... chefs kiss. And you're right, a Pelagos GMT would be madness!!
@pedromanuellopez1422 жыл бұрын
@@ID-Guy yes, I realized that after I wrote my comment, the U2 is outside your limit now, it was within limits in 2017, when I bought mine. I asked for the GMT hand to be lumed and they customized it.

Maybe one day you can talk about german barrel case watches. This design was even popular in east Germany. They had produced such watches in Ruhla thuringia. A watch making center that unlike Glashütte had not survived the reunion.Sinn 240, Tutima m2, Archimede Outdoor. They have a military vibe like the Hamilton pilot pioneer.

Excellent video, my choice would a 103 or 140 chronograph, you can find vintage examples of both. Speaking of which the Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster is back from service & I've just wound its Valjoux 23 movement. Now I know what it feels like to be a real man, a versatile man, the sort of man who knows..... 'where the towels are kept' ;-)

Vintage Sinn, they're as rare as hens teeth these days I bet ;) And rock your NG with pride Andrew! There are many trying to be like a Chronomaster, but none quite nail the quirks!

Once again an amazing video from best watch content creator 💪…I would appreciate it, if you could make a video about Sinn‘s competitor Damasko, that the audience is well informed. Damasko has its own inhouse movement (based on ETA architecture) and various interesting patents (ice hardening etc.). Furthermore they are using for their chronographs Lemania movements and testing their watches under hardest conditions. Regards V.

My first watch was a 556i but perhaps unusually I went for the black MOP dial as a daily wear. My next one I want from the brand is one of the dress watches with a porcialin dial.

Again, Sinn proves that a watch i a tool first and a fashion accessory last. Any of these watches would do well worn with jeans to a suit and tie. Looking at their catalog I love the EZM 1.1S with a silicone strap (swapped out with a NATO).

It blows me away how one brand can offer so many diverse and brilliant designs (all following the same language) It's incredible. Owning the EZM 3F, U50 and 103 I bet I'd still look at more pieces... and those 1.1's, they're living legends. Basically the Grail Sinn for us nerds ;)

I had a fully tegimented u50 but I ultimately returned it. My main issue was that it was painful round my wrist, was quite tight, but would still slide down my wrist. Other minor issues were the glass was difficult to keep clean and I just didn't like the pattern around the bezel. It kind of reminded me of a mushroom sometimes. I did love the dial though. Was difficult to make a decision. Looking to buy a 556i, hopefully for an every day watch.

I honestly wish we’d dump the “entry level” tag on watches that cost $2000 USD. It comes across as tone deaf. Value for money? Sure. Otherwise, I enjoyed the video and your content in general. I’ve never owned a Sinn. I really like the white dial 104. I owned a Damasko DC80 which I miss, dearly. Cheers.
