I find this so fascinating, its amazing what surgery can do! As long as people do it for themselves, to make themselves happy, and not because they feel pressured by anyone else, I think cosmetic surgery is a wonderful thing. Its very demonized in western countries. There are things I would LOVE to have done, if I could afford it, but if I happen to bring it up people get so angry, tell me "I don't need it" or that I shouldn't become "fake". So irritating. We've advanced to a point where, if we're unhappy with how we look, we can change it, and I think thats amazing!

As a mom of 3 myself, I can completely sympathize with her. I used to be a C cup before children in a petite Asian body and weighed 98 lbs. My boobs have deflated considerably and my body changed with a pot belly, big arms that droop and wider hips. I also leak when I laugh hard or sneeze! It gets depressing at times and I don't feel and look like myself. Many moms experience the same exact feelings. Please don't judge. I'm happy that she feels good about herself again. As a result, she will be a better mom.

The big problem is actually the surgery culture in Korea. It has become absolutely normal to get surgery, even at a young age. Parents let their child do surgery as a present. The "beauty" standard has changes so much you'll HAVE to become artificial in order to be just "pretty" . Beauty is a very big deal in Korea, unattractive people will often get refused for job interviews, not suitable for marriage etc. Not to mention the culture there is very different, if you are by their standards "unattractive" they will not hesitate to tell you that you are, so they become a victim of bullying. Leaving cosmetic surgery as the only option, changing their entire identity to fit the one and only "beauty standard" Korea has: big eyes, double eyelid, small head, pale skin, small mouth, etc. This makes it a vicious cicle. If society in Korea stopped with making beauty a priority, and by that does also mean that is should not be considered "normal" to do cosmetic surgery anymore.

If I have the money to spend and if I am not afraid of needles and knives, I would probably have surgery on my face but not on my body. I just wonder how on earth did her breasts end up like pancakes? 😦 Her breasts must have been really small before giving birth. No not every Asian looks the same. Their surgeries might look similar but you can easily tell the difference. Not everybody does surgery for looks. Some do it for health reasons.

You can still tell if they got surgery. Not all Koreans are born with stereotypical Asian features: small eyes, round face, small nose, monolids, etc. My family and many I've seen and know personally have big eyes, double eyelids, high nose bridge, and small chins. Roughly 25% of the Korean population are born with these features. Don't be racist!

The reason why plastic surgery is so prominent in Korea, has several factors. Though it highly revolve around culturally and economically. Beauty in Korean society is not only to feel better but is highly attributed in the work force. They have to summit a photo with the resume and competition is brew at a young age with Korea educational system. This also gave birth to more scrutiny for those who are judge by their looks/status and not their character. All in all to sum it up,a more twisted version of a fusion between capitalism and culture. (lots of suicide)

I started watching it to see a transformation and didn't even get to the end. She goes for breast augmentation after breast feeding and healthy children, I totally understood that. But then the doctors actually started to look for "flaws" they could fix... and then having her being described as "flat as a pancake"?!? Really? I thought this was about lifting someone's self steem up.
