Sorry guys but I gotta leap to AK's defence here. Tried their stuff a few days ago for the first time (polished aluminium) and it gave me the best nmf I've ever seen. It was touch-dry after about a minute or so. Maybe you got one of the old bottles? I understand that there has been an issue with some batches in the past but that should be fine by now. I ordered mine from the UK through eBay. Of course the build was stunning als always. Great recovery.

The problem with the AK metal paint was that the builder was laying it on too heavy too soon. Best to spray a few lite coats than to spray on a single heavier boat. Less is more, so to speak. Seen several of this fellow's videos, he does great work!

I'm unsure what you did with the polished aluminum, I've used it and it dried just as well as their other metal lines. I'd suggest contacting them, perhaps your batch was bad. Also if you ever get their thinner, be incredibly careful with that and do not use it around your model, it's cellulose based and will eat your plastic faster than you can grab a rag to clean it with. It cleans their paints out of your brushes really nicely though.

The need for ballast to keep the nose wheel on the ground must be a peculiarity of plastic MiG-15 models. I recall a 1/72 scale MiG I built in the mid-70s that required the same thing. I don't remember having to do that with any models I built of other planes.

What? An Eduard kit _without_ photo etched parts?? And: when it comes to silver model colors, I had no problems with Alclad air frame aluminium. Worked nicely with airbrush and dried as intended. Took me half a bottle for a 1:48 F-5 Tiger, though... I'd say the problem was not in the AK color, but in the combination with the _primer_ . The Vallejo polyurethan primer I use does not feel dry after 24 hours of drying, but it works fine when covered with acrylic paint. But with a different paint, it might just never dry, like laquer pen on rubber (no kidding: this combination isn't dry after _weeks_ ).
