Oh hey, I live there. And I've been running a joke around for a while now, that Idaho is just American Ireland; consider, we're both geographically located in the northwest, population is considerably lower outside of the capitol and other major cities, there are beautiful mountains and valleys with rivers, loads of cottages in the middle of nowhere, and of course the potato industry. And there is a story behind Idaho re-labeling itself "The Gem State". If I recall, the story was that, up in the panhandle, there was the large sign saying "Welcome to Idaho" beside the highway. Under that sign, another one read something like "Home of World Famous Potatoes", and reportedly people kept vandalizing it, spray-painting the sign so it read "famous pot", 'cause weed. The state got fed up with trying to clean or replace the sign so often, so it was changed to "The Gem State". I can confirm, there is great variety in the scenery here, even in just my valley. There's also Craters of the Moon to the south, basically an enormous volcanic desert that happens to vaguely resemble the moon's surface. Also in that area, and not too far from my region, was the nuclear test facility for Nuclear Aircraft Propulsion, the EBR-1, and the Molten-Salt reactor experiments.

Honestly, Washington, Utah, and Oregon are my favorite states and Idaho brings them altogether and it's a lovely state. When Colorado drops - yet another beautiful state to drive through. My main motivation for Idaho is avoiding Nevada to be honest and just being able to use Idaho to get to the two North Western States, but now I realise Idaho itself is going to be a great destination and I'm pumped for it to drop. ATS is becoming more on par with ETS2 every day.

@patrickmusson45714 жыл бұрын
Once ATS gets to the Mississippi River, some of the shine will have come off of ETS2, and the sheer length of the drives you'll be able to do in ATS will draw players to the American game. The quality of these DLCs will also draw people in. Unfortunately, this means that California, Nevada, and Arizona will be really old then.
@pliskenmovie4 жыл бұрын

But I'm even more excited that it's adjacent to the state I live in: Montana. Hopefully it'll only be five or six more states, tops, before they get to Montana.

I recognized so much, seeing as I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled nearly everywhere in the state. Also, at 6:20, the company with the Rail Runner and the Front Runner locomotives outside in real life is a company called Motive Power. They do rebuilds, repaints, and they even build entire locomotives from the ground up. They were responsible a few years back for building and exporting a number of locomotives for freight service in Australia. Fabulous video Squirrel! And another fabulous DLC from SCS.

They could also add 'sightseer' achievements for visiting a certain number of the view points and 'return visitor' or something for returning to a certain number at least twice. It's more work but having a local heritage paint job that is unlocked by visiting a certain number of them in an area could be cool, maybe something for return visitors too like unlocking colour customisation for those liveries, so that more players could be encouraged to look at them and see the detail they put into each location.

The buildings in Sandpoint were all very accurate, including that big mall like building jutting out over the lake. My family used to go to Lake Pend Oreille every year for the fourth of July and camp at Farragut, and we'd always go to Sandpoint for one of the days of our trip. We'd also light off our fireworks down at Garfield Bay on the fourth, Go to Silverwood Theme Park for one of the days, and in later years when we finally bought a boat, would spend a couple days of the trip out on the lake tubing swimming, skiing, wake boarding etc... The water was usually around what felt like about 60°F during that time of year, which is practically warm compared to where I live on the Columbia River in Washington, which is East Wenatchee (also on this map). It's so freaking cool to see places I have been or currently live be so accurately represented in a game.

One is a Luvs, across the street used to be Dad's (recognized it immediately), now it's flying j/pilot, and the one on the north side of town is an independent, cant remember the name. That town of McCall, pretty close to what it really looks like. Soon as you showed the drawbridge I knew exactly where it was. They really did a really good job on Idaho. Even little details like underneath the overpass in downtown Boise is a skatepark called Rhodes Park ...that's in the game.

I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t include the most surprising feature of the snake river. If you go east out of twin falls on USA 30 and then continue onto Idaho state highway 50 you will cross the Snake River as it goes through a 500 feet deep canyon that maybe only 300 feet or less across and has walls of obsidian! and not to far upstream the river is almost 2 miles across!

Man that Loves is very accurate, except you probably don't have to wait over 30minutes to get to a fuel pump and fight your way out because the lot is laid out the worst way possible. Loving the detailed truck stops they are such a huge part of the experience IRL. Don't think we'll ever see the sheer chaos of a real one recreated though! Very common to see clusters of 2-3 different stops on an exit, record I've seen is 6. Usually a dealer nearby too. Also as a northeast driver, does Idaho really have streets that wide in cities? It's glorious, so much room for activities, I could drive a 53ft through there without a single thought.
