Bryan Kohberger, the 28-year-old man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students, was working on a Ph.D. at Washington State University. Prior to his enrollment at WSU, Kohberger graduated from DeSales University in June where he earned a Master's degree and took classes taught by forensic psychologist Dr. Katherine Ramsland, a serial killer expert. The Law&Crime Network's Angenette Levy has the latest on this revelation, what a former classmate said about Kohberger and what Dr. Ramsland told the Coptales & Cocktails podcast about her work and the class she teaches on serial killers.

@@kv2723 I believe Bryan wanted it that way. I almost feel he was conducting his own case study. With his intelligence and ego, I see him playing mind games with investigators and the courts. Turning this into his own TV show. The show Mind Hunters, is what comes to mind for me. The killings and lack of info already seemed to be the perfect documentary. Now exploring the "why" is what he wants to be known for.

A few years ago a guy knocked on my door and when I opened he stood there with a few dvd's in his hand and said he was selling dvd's, as I looked at the dvd's in his hand he didnt present the dvd's to me he just held it in his hands and tried to look over my shoulder then stared at me in a way that was intimidating and blank and he didnt say anything more, I can remember it was a very awkward moment and I just said calmly that im not interested and went to rest, I was tired because I was working shifts, and I was still single and stayed alone. A few hours later I heard a loud band on that same door, when I went closer I could here more than one person outside, I think they tried to kick down the door to enter my flat without drawing attention but they failed. A few years later I saw on the news in the town I lived krugersdorp that the police arrested people involved in killing 11 people over 4years and I immediatly recognised one of them as the one that was at my door "selling" dvd's. That sent chills down my spine when I realised what could have happend to me.

I think people are missing the point. They’re trying to understand serial killers and what makes them tick, this is to prevent more victims. “Evil” is a term that can be used for many killers not just serial killers. Serial killers seem to have a different brain, almost subhuman. The more we know about them the better. I remember reading that the public was initially highly against the FBI studying them. Fortunately they pushed through and in turn all of the info learned has helped profiled and catch many serial killers,

You are wrong. Evilness comes in deception and lies..."sin has many handles, but the one that fits them all is the lie". in scripture the devil deceives, and rides on a beautiful horse and appears in light. He will never come in the true identity that he is,, which is filth itself. Evilness comes with 1/2 truths and at times in glitter.. One must look at the works of anyone one suspects of lying. Does the person produce fruit or weeds?

Maybe she suspected or had intuition. But you can't say that and keep your credibility. You can't arrest people or charge them based on intuition. So we'll never know. Everyone can "sense" psychopaths to different degrees. But "sensing" is not a good reason to prosecute. "Senses" can be tampered with by trauma and faulty perceptions and beliefs. I have always had a problem with people trying to explain evil or serial killers by saying there is something wrong/different about their brains. Does it matter what is the reason for the evil? We call it evil/monsterous etc because it is. Do I care what is the reason 3 daughters and a son were taken away? Absolutely not! Even if there is something different in his brain, he managed to get to the age of 28 before killing so he could continue living the way he lived until that point. It's evil. M. Scott Peck, MD, was a Psychiatrist who discovered that a few of his patients didn't fit the diagnostic criteria for mental illness and he realized they really were evil. He was surprised because he wasn't a Christian, at that time, and it was a challenge for him to accept the fact that evil is real. He wrote a book about it, "People of The Lie: Hope for Healing Human Evil." A few years later he wrote the sequel, "Glimpses of The Devil," and by that time he'd become a Christian so he had spiritual insight into evil people. Both book are excellent!

@LawAndCrime can you explain the next legal steps. If he’s refusing extradition, what happens next and how long should we expect the process to take to get him back to Idaho?

He waved his court appearance, and will be extradited in the next few days. So he is not refusing extradition .

He's "waiving the extradition hearing." I just looked it up because it was confusing to me too. People just say "waive extradition" but it's the HEARING that they're waiving. One of the reasons to do so is if you have no chance of winning. The public defender probably knew this and advised him to just go cooperatively.
