Agreed. I’m curious what punishment you’d equate to being justice served? I personally don’t feel that life in prison or death penalty is remotely close to justice served…nor serve as deterrents to stop others with similar twisted and evil desires. Perhaps I have ideas from the Bronze Age…but I think society has become far too weak and overly sympathetic towards criminals..and we need punishment that truly strikes fear into these madmen. I can think of a few.

Friendly reminder, Lock you’re doors & double check them every-time you leave the house & especially at night. Invest in a security system, Not just a Doorbell camera. Stop getting drunk & staying out late from clubs & bars. Stay alert as possible, situational awareness is important, Stay off them phones. Last but not least your Home should always be private, couple friends at the most & that’s it, No party house. P.S I know these are college young adults. So of course there going to be parting & getting drunk & being comfortable, letting there guard down. We can all learn from this. Never let your guard down.

I’m retired law enforcement and now train officers in CSI. It literally takes on about 10 cells to get a DNA profile and you shed millions of cells a day. The trouble occurs when it is contaminated or degraded. In cases like this, where a knife is used and multiple stab wounds, it is quite common for the knife handle to become bloody and the killer’s hand slips and he cuts himself. The investigators would be especially interested in any blood drops away from the victim’s rooms as this could be the killer’s blood. I also recall that it was ‘reported’ that blood was found out in the snow. If so, this would probably be the suspects. However, remember neither the police nor the prosecutor have confirmed DNA was how the suspect was identified.

You can't clean traces of blood completely out of a car no matter what radical measures are taken .... or from a carpet, clothing, or even the ground. It's not going to matter how they initially found (Ancestry database ... or whatever) the DNA that matched the crime scene DNA, b/c when they searched his apartment, they could get all the samples of perp DNA they needed. The defense will try to say any of the perp's DNA collected at the crime scene was somehow "contamination by police" --- or they'll say the perp was at a party in the house before the crime and left his DNA. Anything to put a shred of doubt in the jurors' minds. This case has to be proven "beyond a reasonable doubt" (98% - 99% certain) rather than "by a preponderance of the evidence" (51% certain).

Just like what happened with OJ Simpson when he slashed Nicole and Ron to death there are almost always wounds to the knife hand of an attacker because they're hitting bone and ribs when they're stabbing and that hand will slip down the knife and get cut so just like they found OJ's blood at the scene I'm sure they found some of his. They probably also found his skin underneath their fingernails as that happens alot as well. Whatever the evidence was they got him and he's done. Talking about how a suspect will always miss some DNA left behind: Ann Burgess consulted with Ed Kemper regarding these murders. One thing Ed pointed out was if you leave some sort of evidence, you don't compound the problem by trying to fix it. He mentioned he left a partial boot print at the bottom of a ravine at a kill site. He didn't go back down to try to erase the print because chance's are he'd leave a complete boot print in the process, and there's no way you could ignore a size 16 boot print.

DNA is not “irrefutable”. It isn’t some magic - it requires context and explanation. You may want to watch less TV and stay off juries if you’re one of those who thinks DNA = automatic guilty. What I haven’t heard anyone including the media hungry police say yet is what DNA and any explainable circumstance of its presence. Too many people hear DNA and immediately think case closed.

This has been one of my thoughts. Why no bloody footprints in the snow? Why no trail out the door? After having dogs who hurt themselves and blood everywhere I know blood can be cleaned up but does take time energy and chemicals- which does limit a situation like this at the scene. But his car could have been cleaned if he wasn’t just dripping in “evidence”. I was kinda a clean freak prior to having dogs with ripped nails, cut flews and split ears. So it’s not all that difficult to learn how to clean that up. Finding it and cleaning it is not the issue - getting to it and the focus to clean it up is kinda boring though. I’m focused on this DNA - as I’ve posted before OJs DNA was at the scene.

@@olaasolo2794 There’s a homicide case in Florida in which the murderer who happen to be the slain woman’s husband refused to confess that he had killed her and buried her body in an unknown location. He eventually confessed and disclosed location of her remains after the judges agreed to drop the death penalty in reward for his confession.

Why would he drive back with his car? Seems like for just a visit for the holidays it would make more sense to fly home; makes me wonder if they wanted to get the car out of the area.

Has anyone said if he has any cuts or scratches visible on hands or ams when arrested or should currently still have?

You would think one of the students in his class would have noticed, I’m sure they were talking about this case.

I was meaning like the cops or news would have reported that, seems like it would have been important. Since nothing has been said I guess he didn't have any
