Awesome tutorial. I snapped my old stock rope and couldn’t work out how it all went together. I watched your video and re roped it with the new rope you recommended. Now it works like new again. Thank you so much for your help. Much appreciated 💪

This was a terrific video - clear and easy to follow. I had to replace the rope on my extension ladder, so it was great to have this as a resource. I was able to get all of the material I needed at the hardware store to do the job, and finished the project in less than 15 minutes.

This is the best I've seen so far as to how to replace the rope on a ladder. Others have you going around the bottom rung of the stationary part back to the bottom rung of the moving part. This looks like it would wear out the rope as there is no pulley on the bottom rung. Thanks for this great video from somebody who used his ladders on a daily basis. Keep up the good work!
@skippy3309Ай бұрын
I did this on mine. Just have a little slack in your rope and it won’t wear. Stops you having a pile of rope on the ground when fully extended. Acts like a conveyer belt…

Good video! I also use a cable tie on each end so it holds the rope in the middle of the rung. That way the rope can't slide from side to side on the rung and get tangled in your feet. Good job!

Hey brotha! Been a fan for years. and your videos have helped make me money and learn a ton. I appreciate ya Chris, real talk. On the note of this video, I was searching for rope and it just popped up on Google. I didn't see it was by you, until your face showed up. A pleasant surprise. So to add to reasons why its a good idea to replace ropes when they start to fray, and the reason I am here in the comments is the following: Once the ropes start to fray they lose their a bit of their working load limit, and if you have a 26' fiberglass ladder that is 3/4 of the way extended, you don't want that dang rope snapping and the ladder crushing your hand. Ask me how I know... Keep it up man, and y'all keep on keepin on!

Great video, super helpful. I actually used PMI E-Z Bend Sport 11mm Non-Dry Static Rope, sold by the foot at REI. Slightly thicker than the 3/8” rope in the video, but fits through the pulley on a Werner ladder with no problem. 30 feet was more than enough to do a 24’ ladder.

Hey Chris, wouldn't you rather route the rope correctly so the excess doesn't hang down when you extend the ladder? I had to fix our companies ladders after someone routed it that way. Wrap the return end of rope back down around the bottom of the bottom section and secure it to the fly section next to your first rope clamp.

This was great until the second end was attached. I attach the second end back to the bottom rung. Otherwise rope piles up at the bottom of the ladder creating a safety hazard. Both ends of the rope should be attached to the same bottom rung.

If both ends of the rope are connected to the same ladder wrong then doesn’t that essentially lock the ladder in the closed position and allow no travel of any of the parts including the rope??😊
@brettk92652 ай бұрын
@@iComplainer He means go around the bottom of the last wrung and back up to the wrung the other end of the rope is on. That makes the bottom wrung like a second pulley and the rope moves in a circle, eliminating any slack to trip on. The rope acts more like a conveyor belt if that helps picture how it works.
@globalmagicnation84643 жыл бұрын
So far I’ve watched five rope ladder videos and not a single one of them showed the rope going through the top of the ladder. Does it have to have a pulley? How does it hook to the top? I have a ladder with no rope no Pulley. And nobody’s video shows the top of the ladder.
@jayc42839 жыл бұрын
Good video man !! Question, I see some ladders have the excess looped back around the bottom rung, so the excess just gets pulled up with the extension. The only down side I can think of is foot tangle potential on the whole ladder instead of a smaller section? Any other reason I'm not thinking of? I also put a small bolt through the rail by the foot, so the extension stops there instead of the end caps being the stop, that way the end caps won't eventually get brittle and break on contact Thanks !

Is the red rope and the yellow the same? At HomeDepot there is a rope like you are holding is red looking like you have (stretches) then a yellow rope which seems to have less give? Is it mad bad? Thx
@45oldbear10 жыл бұрын
Nice video. This is not a criticism, but I have two other problems: First, my ladder hooks do not move freely (and spring back). I've tried WD40. Second, the pulley is gone, and I am unsure which rung is its home. I guess I can order the missing rubber foot (from the top) online, once I find the maker indicator.
